Sound beneath the water surface can't be compared to that above the surface due to the fact it travels more effectively through the molecules that make up the air.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/image/s13.gif[/image]

Then how come the annual underwater concert at Looe Key (Big Pine Key, FL.) is so popular ? Huh ? And what about dolphins and their sonar skills? They depend on it and are incredibly acurate at even long distance with small objects such as bait fish,. Huh ? Oh yea, and what about dolphins coming from all around to my sailboat when I crank up Joni Mitchell ? Huh?

What about that ? Huh? Huh?

Ha! That's them told [:D] .

People think in different ways but actually I think most peoples mathematical understanding of something comes second to an analogy that describes it. Electricity never made sense to me at school until it was compared to flowing water with differing size pipes creating resistance through the circuit. Electricity you can't see but water you can. No V=I*R is going to give me the same kind of understanding.

In soil mechanics we talk about the consolidation model which is a piston with a spring. The water seeps out more slowly because the soil skeleton (spring) helps resist the pressure from above.

Not sayin' that water conducts sound better than air. Obviously, it does not. My point, if I have one, is that many folks don't realize that water conducts sound rather well too. We tend to think of the underwater world as a silent one. That's not the case at all. Any diver can tell us this.

KRANWEST -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 6:34:37 PM)

This isn't a deep question, but it's something that I've always wondered.

Why are black and hispanic men less likely to joke around in a "faux-gay" manner than white guys?

For instance, I'll approach my friends at work with the following proposition:

"Hey.....can I blow you for money?"

To while they'll probably answer in a manner similar to this:
"Shit - you can blow me for free, as long as I can rim your ass!!"

Now, none of us are actually gay, but I have noticed that white guys aren't nearly as scared of possibly denigrating their "masculine" rep as bruthas or latinos.  Why is that?

Hmmmm... are you sure about that?

A guess: a lot of them grow up in tougher conditions, and that shit won't fly there. Kidding or not.

KCherry -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:21:07 PM)

If I am living in sanity does that consitute insanity? Oh well, either way is insane.

MissMagnolia -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:22:17 PM)

It's insanity if you BELIEVE it's insanity Cherry.[:D]

GreedyTop -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:22:24 PM)

I think there is also the inherent machismo factor that is generally found in Latino and Black culture that is not as prevalent in caucasion (American, anyway) cultures...

adrian28 -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:27:27 PM)

Very true GT. Pride plays a big part in all we say and do.

lronitulstahp -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:42:26 PM)

Sometimes...with Black and Brown men...religious aspects of both cultures are pretty strict.  They are more likely to feed into the stigma surrounding homosexuality.  The gay part bothers them...the "Judge not" part, however, seems to have escaped some...
Although to me...nobody does "drag queen diva" like a big gorgeous brown or black man...but that's just me...

Daddysredhead -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:45:50 PM)

RuPaul anyone?  *giggles*

Sanity -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:46:06 PM)

Hmmm. Should I resent that remark?

I'd have to agree with you on that. Religion seems to be a major factor sometimes. I myself have been labeled a heathen who's turned his back on the baptist church for a life of sin. So be it, they're a bunch of hypocrites anyway.

Guilty Concience?

lronitulstahp -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:53:05 PM)

i think you'll find as you live...that every "group" has it's share of hypocrites...whether religious, political, social, and yes even in the BDSM lifestyle...there are people who fall short of their ideals.  Hypocrisy is hard to deal with, i am a Christian, and a sub, slut, kinky, whatever...i try to think like this...i'm far from perfect, but then again, i'm not God.  At the same time...i never write people off for how they live...because that's not my place, i'm not God.  i'm sure there are hypocrites in that church, but i'm also certain that there are earnest people who do the best they can with what they have.  But hey, i'm not God...[sm=flying.gif]

adrian28 -> RE: Post your DEEP THOUGHTS here (4/13/2008 7:56:48 PM)

If only everyone could think that way...
