faerytattoodgirl -> your dna in a large bank. (4/12/2008 10:53:21 AM)

would you allow the gov't to take your dna and put it in one of their banks they are now creating?

they do this so that when a crime is committed it is easy to find the person who committed the crime...

but problems exist...dna is not always 100% match...but they accept close matches and even you...who is innocent...could have your dna show up on their search and you get arrested for something you didnt do! yet dna is proof that you were there...when in fact you werent even if you live 500000 miles away!

scary isnt it?
i wouldnt allow this to happen.

Totalitarian regimes treat all of their citizens as suspects.

Democratic forms of government are underpinned by the notion of innocent until proven guilty.

'Looks like we're heading down a dangerous path.

I suppose if I could deposit it in the form of gobs of jizm at any time I desired, and the government provided certified fluffers, then ja; I might could go for it.

that thread talks about the uk...but im in a country where crime doesnt exist.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: your dna in a large bank. (4/12/2008 11:22:25 AM)

I wouldn't do it voluntarily.  They only do that in this state for convicted felons.  Now I don't have a problem with that at all.  It's quite simple, don't commit serious crimes if you don't want your DNA on file with the government.

I wonder if DNA samples will ever become a requirement for jobs.  I had to give my fingerprints for the job I have now, and I have had to give them in the past for others.  So the government has my fingerprints.  Now that prospect does scare me, and I can see it becoming more common in the future.

MusicalBoredom -> RE: your dna in a large bank. (4/12/2008 11:22:26 AM)

I really hate the idea of DNA banks or even finger print banks for that matter as it applies to the general population.  The government here is finding more and more reasons to compel people to submit their DNA.  I think the main objection I have is that juries seem to take DNA matches as proof guilt.  I have this image of me having sex in some hotel somewhere and leaving DNA all over the place (we know they don't clean that well) and 4 years later someone gets killed in that room and they find my DNA as proof that I committed the murder.

LOL...imagine if your name comes up as a sex offender cause your dna is a match...atleast in my case i know if this happens i can prove i cant have sex!

Raechard -> RE: your dna in a large bank. (4/12/2008 11:27:40 AM)

It always starts off as voluntary then soon or later it becomes compulsory. I gave you the UK link because this is where we are at now and what we are talking about. This is what you want to avoid the mistakes of other nations.

Swap the fluffers for the queen and a chance to jiz in her eyes and subsequently stick her eye-lids together..............and I'm in there. No questions asked.

'Could be worse.........we're moving forward into the 18th century with half-hearted debate concerning heriditary privilege and monarchy.

Nope. They can have my fingerprints and DNA when I get arrested.

I think that's the new fear that replaced the nightmare as a kid of going to school and forgetting to get dressed.  And for the record, even if you can't have sex it doesn't seem to interfere at all with you being sexy. [;)]

Ron, yeah, but they'd have to be "Certified" fluffers, not those Goddammed "wannabes!"

Depending on your job its already a requirement.  While working with the ciminal justice system in Nebraska.  They took a swab.  All ten fingerprints...palm print...top of hand print and then side and forearm print off of me.

A bit overkill but it was the requirement.

Guard your hair, smoked cigarettes, chewing gum etc

Criminals' latest wheeze is to pick up others' DNA through such items, and leave them at crime scenes to throw police off their trail - and maybe onto yours instead.

for what purpose?   if the govt said send in a sample- what does the public get in return?

mnottertail -> RE: your dna in a large bank. (4/12/2008 2:48:20 PM)

That is why my proud boast would be, if you find a fresh gob of my splooge at the bank robbery, you can sort of figure I was in on it.

Now, to address my splooge ill gotten by nefarious methods; one need  only test the surrounding; salival; anal; or vaginal fluids, and you will find your criminal.

recently one of the big issues in the us has been dna from children collected for genetics research. they passed a law recently up north (can't remember which state) that didn't require the parents' notification for newborns' dna to be collected and used for research. kind of scary that they can basically just take it.
