What is the difference between these three... Mistress, Domme, and Goddess..

From my understanding a Mistress is a Female that is 100% in control just the same as the other 2, but a isn't a Domme the same as a Mistress? Some people say yes, while others say no. Goddess, this is a Female dominant that wishes to be worshiped like a true Goddess, and or treated in such a manner, yet should not all of those serving under any dominant Female treat them all the same?

I have had a few Domme's tell me that a Goddess is a fake, and I am not judging this either way... I am only asking the Ladies to respond with the ideas, and comments they may have to shed some light on these questions. Others have said that Domme's are just Women who want money... I am not sure about that, but then again this isn't from my mouth. Then there are those who say that a Mistress is the only one true dominant female that takes in slaves, and subs and who are serious, and care for those they take in.

I have only had 2 real life situations, therefore I do not have enough experience to decide what is what. The best way to solve problems like this is to ask the Ladies who are in these categories.

No punt intended to anyone, and I am not here to stir up or make problems for any of You lovely Ladies...

Thank you for you're time..

I think they are just titles that a Dominant woman chooses for herself out of preference. I don't think there is any categorical difference 99% of the time between these terms. They are just what a female Dominant chooses to call herself and have herself addressed as.

It's just personal preference. For example, I prefer just a simple "Ms." and "Ma'am", but that doesn't make me "less" of a dominant than someone who prefers another name.

I think someone elsewhere on the forums said that one cannot be a Mistress without a submissive. I agree. If I don't have a submissive who am I Mistress of?

I identify as Domme. As far as Goddess..I have no idea since I would not presume to call myself that.

Have no problem with those that wish to identify as such though.

A Domme, or Domina, or Dominatrix is a Lady who holds Herself to be a Dominant Female in this lifestyle.

A Mistress is one who owns a slave or is in an ongoing D/s or M/s relationship and is that person's "Mistress". Although some use it as an interchangeable title, many feel it is more appropriate to use the term Mistress (or Master) when one is actually a Mistress (or Master) over a submissive. Until such time as a D/s or M/s relationship is in force, the Lady (or man) may be Dominant, but does not own or have a personal relationship with one over whom S/he is dominant.

A Goddess is a style of Dominant or Mistress. When I use the term Goddess in My identity it is simply to refer to the style of Domination I prefer or mostly adhere to. There are also Amazons, Queens, Governesses/Nurses, Mommies, etc. Goddess is the most commonly used, even though it necessarily doesn't apply in many cases.

Given the basic descriptions that are commonly accepted (above) I am not sure why any Dommes would tell you that a Goddess is a fake.
Saying that Dommes just want money is a bit of a generalization. Who is saying this? If other Dommes are telling you this, then I have to wonder how they identify themselves. There are many who are not Dominas (or Dominant at all) who try to take advantage of a large & needy male population by projecting themselves as Dominant when they are, in fact, just ladies who are using the internet to put some extra cash into their pockets. This is where good sense has to come into play. I hear, more and more, that many of these "ladies" are men. Use your head. The one above the waist that is.

Saying that a Mistress is the only true Dominant female is not completely true. I can see where one might have that impression. But there are many who do not identify as Mistresses, since they are not in a current relationship with a slave or a submissive. This does not mean they are not Dommes or Dominas. They are still Dominant, they just are not Mistress to a particular slave or submissive at that time. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that, even if I am a Mistress to one or two, that does not make Me a Mistress to all. I am a Domina to all in the lifestyle. I am a Mistress to My boy(s).

It is a preference, as MsSonnetMarwood explained. Some call themselves Mistress all the time. Some demand only certain forms of address, regardless of the relationship, or lack thereof. It is up the each individual to determine whether or not someone is compatible. I have many boys tell Me they are submissive or slave. I may not agree, but that is My personal definition.

Hope this helps. And welcome to the boards.

Ive never been overly concern with honorifics.

I would only never persume to title myself Master.. that is for someone who has spent a lifetime in study and pratice of their art.

If I am in a relationship with a boy I prefer Ms, or Ma'am out of protocol. I like the sound of Domina when asked to tell people what I am .. as opposed to Dominant

Mistress..for me has to many notes around a kept woman.. so its nothing something I asked to be used on me. but if for example I am interdouced as Mistress Dawn or Dawn she is boy blahblah's Mistress I wouldnt say excuse me but I dont prefer that term.

The Lady, Godess, MoonPrinces thing escapes me Dusty Gold's explanation is as good as any Ive heard for me well it makes me giggle...sorry but thats the truth...

Read GoddessDustygold's reply again, because her explanation is what I have learned from interactions with people, on here and the books I've read.
The person who said Goddess is a fake must be THE standard for what's real, and I'm going to bite my tongue in saying what I think about her and that line of thinking. M

This is pretty much my style as well. And that's what we're talking about, personal style, not a dominant hierarchy.

I am a Domme. I'm also Mistress to my submissive. I take the title "Goddess" rather seriously, since I teach Mythology, and I know I darn well don't measure up to those deities. lol

But I also think truly (if you excuse the expression ) dominant women don't bother to judge the "dommeliness" of others.

So far as I can see there is only one master on collarme who refers to himself as God but countless Goddesses.
Maybe something to do with the way mainstream religion monopolizes the one word while the other retains its mythological power?

Personally, I think that is online hogwash... How can one state a Mistress is not such without a sub/slave? A slave does not define who I am or what I'm about! It seems that online has skewed facts between fantasy and reality. But I would tend to agree with a slave is not one without a Master/Mistress, as he/she will not just give of themselves at that level to just anyone! Of course it's the matter of the soul....

According to Webster's a Mistress is defined; 1 : a woman who has power, authority, or ownership: as a : the female head of a household b : a woman who employs or supervises servants. 3 : something personified as female that rules, directs, or dominates Hmmmmm....I see no where it stating you have to own to be a Mistress.

Food for thought.....

Thank you to each of Y/you who have stoped in and posted a reply... I am greatful that each of Y/you have shared Y/you're thoughts and ideas on this subject, and question.

I hope that none of Y/you have been offended, as I stated before... I am not judging, and or making any claims, just asking questions... How does one know, and learn if they do not take the time to ask, and then to listen to the replies, and answers.

I am all of those titles.. to different people.

I'm sorry for those who don't really truely appreciate the goddess title. (I lowercase it though because I'm not taking God's place by anymeans). My jack calls Me goddess (he's one of the few people who can) because, in his submission, he has given Me power over every aspect of himself (even his life). It's a very special title.

Thank you. That is the best way I have heard it put anywhere. If they don't get that, then they aren't getting it, period.

Its down to personnal preference.

I prefer to be called Miss or Mistress, and i despise being called Goddess as to me it feels very pretentious!

Each to their own though!

I'll second this.

The best way to know what to call someone is to ask her first and then to respect that choice IF it fits with your own code. If someone wants you to use a title or word that you are uncomfortable with, I personally don't think it benefits either of you to use it. Your discomfort witll be evident.

That hasn''t been my experience. Generally, the explanation I have been given is that 'goddess' refers to a style/attitude. I suppose it would be a handy tool for someone promoting female supremacy. But people into that make me back off in a hurry.
