YourDaddy123 -> Internal Mastery (4/15/2008 8:13:17 AM)

Last night i had the pleasure of sitting on a meeting with a local group and the topic was Internal Mastery, as the topic went around the table parts of the discussion hit me, so i thought i may share part of it here, this is the 1st part. it is very long but please give me feedback as this is a new intellectual pursuit.

I would like to know what everyone thinks of the issue of Internal Mastery, as it relates to my posting.  Here is the 1st part:

Confidence and Self-sufficiency

Good Men are Men of confidence and self-sufficiency. They approach life with a calm and steady demeanor. They are comfortable with their decisions and actions without relying too heavily upon the opinions of others. A man of true confidence is not one who has to sell himself to you, but rather, simply is who he is.

I find it much easier to phrase it........Taking Personal Responsibility.

It's also easier on the eyes to read......

There are times where calm is not the right response. Some things should be met with grief, or anger, or passion.

This looks like a one true way thing to me. And last I looked, there ain't no such animal.

I must first master myself before I can truly be owned by one.

I can't remember where I read the quote but it hits home.

'internal mastery' --- not being an emotionally reactive little ninny ---

and the list could go on

and on

and on

and on.

I think that's how we should all go about finding relationships- just being who we are and seeing how we fit with others who are just being who they are.

I agree with this with a few additions.

Said individuals also posses the decipline to master themselves and follow through on their decisions, the will to overcome the challanges they face and finally the responsibility to accept the price for their mistakes and the humility to learn from them.

Leatherist -> RE: Internal Mastery (4/15/2008 6:47:33 PM)

Describing baseline adult responsibility as mastery is somewhat silly.

Level -> RE: Internal Mastery (4/15/2008 7:16:44 PM)

Mastering one's self is a good thing. Not easy, and it doesn't happen often, I don't think.

littlebitxxx -> RE: Internal Mastery (4/15/2008 11:40:56 PM)

Internal mastery sounds a lot like maturity, both mental and emotional, to me.  We could probably substitute the word "adult" for "Master" in this case.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Internal Mastery (4/16/2008 12:22:52 AM)

Learning to be and live as your Authentic Self is what I call Internal Mastery. My tribe calls it "Being REAL". It has nothing to do with the lifestyle and everything to do with being an evolved, self aware being. Learning to be a better PERSON automatically makes me a better Master.

I could not agree with you more, but that seems to be the problem to be for many. Being afraid, that if you show your self, with the good and the BAD parts, the other will stop loving you.
