It seems to me that if you felt comfortable with this Dom, you wouldn't need to ask this question. When one seeks validation for the point, it's often because they've already made up their mind.

it depends IF we're moving towards in a direction that will be something more than chatting.

however, since we're simply chatting - nope i'm not giving him a picture until i feel comfortable (as well as trust him) enough to give one.

The altering of one's profile seems like a different issue altogether. But as for extended conversations with someone that will not provide some kind of information about who they really might be, I have to agree with Stephann below. The internet makes game-playing far too easy as regards age, gender, etc. and I like to know who the person on the other side is. I like to chat on the phone before too long a time - much better than typing for me. But that too is another subject.

so a person is a loser because he or in this example posted by Stephann she isn't comfortable showing you a photo.

Well, to be fair, the times I haven't been sent photos, I usually had good reasons to believe that there were other issues at hand (husband, lying about age, lying about having a penis attached.) At least three times in my online time, have I come to learn that the 'girl' I was talking to was, in fact, a man. Go figure, he didn't have photos to send me.

The kind of girl I want to meet, will be confident enough in herself, and interested enough in me, to send me photos. I've been pretty lucky in that regard.

ty soul2share! that is exactly what i meant.

having 3 to 4 short typed convos in here and then to say what was said. That made me uncomfortable but since i am a newbie i ask others in here with EXPERIENCE.
I am not slighting anybody. Would i do this in vanilla? Nope. Not until i know somebody. For me to ask for a picture right off or even in 4 convos makes me feel like they are just looking for "window dressing?". In other words not by what i am inside but what i look outside. I see so many put in comments go for the person inside and then see comments about physical attraction. What makes me worthwhile as a person? Get to know my looks or what i have to offer and what i am inside as a human being. I equate looks at like what society views in regards to the fact that if you aren't a certain look or shape why bother getting to know somebody? Others will view it that Oh, Oh she is a dog...i.e. ugly..so be it....

Actually i had somebody have a pic in their profile as a woman. come to find out it was really a man. So what does a picture really show?
In that case he had stolen the females pic off the net so he confessed to me. Thats another story...

winter, I totally understand your frustration. I'm not suggesting that you should send photos without feeling good about it. But the reasons you're citing for not feeling good seem to have a lot more to do with confidence issues on your part than from any sort of safety issue. You don't need us to validate your desire not to show photos.

The real issue, though, is that someone who isn't attracted to how you look isn't likely to just ignore that fact should you finally meet. You have every right to not show yourself; he has every right to move on to someone who will. That's a choice you have to make, and feel good about.

For the record, I didn't see any real photos of my current slave (whom I met on CM) until about two weeks into it. I never bothered to ask, because I wasn't looking for a partner. If I had been, I would have expected them much, much sooner.

Oh! And stolen pics usually rear their ugly head sooner or later. I rarely meet people long distance anymore, and if I did, it would be with someone I felt I could sincerely trust, or someone who had sent more than just a couple of old, grainy photos. Digital cameras and web cams cost less than your average date; I'd even buy one and send it, if I was in doubt.

I also agree with Stephan. I don't have any desire to continue talking with people who won't show their face. If you aren't comfortable with that, then you aren't for me. Conversely, it gets old and annoying when you've seen pics of me, and perhaps we've been chatting and you've seen even more pics of me, but you continue to badger me for them. For the record, I've seen Stephan's face, and it's pretty cute.
