UBERMUNSCHIST -> Cilice Belts (4/16/2008 6:07:43 AM)

Do any of you know where I can buy one of these?

Or better yet, make one?

I've only found one religious site that sells them, but they don't list the prices.

http://www.cilice.co.uk/

I think that it's funny I won't be using this product as originally intended. [;)]

NOTE: For those of you who may not know what a clice belt is:

In more recent times the word has come to refer not to a hairshirt, but to a spiked metal belt or chain worn strapped tight around the upper thigh.
[1] Many religious orders within the Roman Catholic Church have used the cilice as a form of "corporal mortification," but in recent years it has become known as a practice of numeraries (celibate lay people) of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Roman Catholic Church. It is worn for two hours a day, and while it causes discomfort, it does not draw blood or even break the skin.[

And that's the best part! I can wear it all day and not make a mess! [:D]

Looks like they list prices to me...

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Cilice Belts (4/16/2008 8:06:58 AM)

It CAN draw blood, anything laying on the same skin day after day has the hance of doing so. Just be prepared for the possibility... wearing white slacks might not be a good ide while you have it on.
Chances are, with it being such a very niche item, that would be the only site you will find it on. Making your own might not be  good idea unless you can get specific measurements and such from somewhere, in order to make it fit properly without cutting skin, you need it to be built exactly like the ones they sell.
The prices are clearly marked in USD under each item, when I looked at the site, so that shouldnt be a problem.

Well it seems as if the sight is now fully functional again. The prices aren't bad!

Am I the only one who got wet at the description of "A cord Discipline, made by Italian Nuns" for this item?  Something so wicked and naughty about what I want that used for, and it being made by nuns.

Salvation through mortification of the flesh doesn't come cheap.

Exactly what I was *looking* for this after I finished the Da Vinci Code! [sm=book.gif][:D]

Edited to add...And can you imagine the response from all those male subs who want to "be made" to wear silky women's clothes when they're told they have to wear the hair shirts on the same page instead...[8D]

If you are going to use one on some poor soul, then you sould make then take the time to bend the rings and interlock them just know when it is done the wonderful felling they will receive from it.
Not to mention the hour or two if having to painstakingly bend the damn thing.

Yes, it's true...  [sm=giveup.gif]

i would think that a metal worker - specifically one that works chain mail - would be able to make them. Maybe it's just the way my brain disects things i see, but they're a pretty simplistic design. Although, i wouldn't want to do the bending and fitting myself! It'd be a hand killer for my tiny fingers. But anyway, as someone mentioned, just be safe about it. There is the possibility that this thing can really cause someone harm.

out of curiousity, has anyone here tried one? and could perhaps describe the experience?

call me fussy, but I am of the mind that catholic 'users' would not be reliable witnesses...

sadomasokisti -> RE: Cilice Belts (4/18/2008 3:47:42 PM)

I have been using dog- prong collars available in most pet shops

Example: http://www.leerburg.com/Photos/SSprong_01.jpg

Call me twisted if you want, but that made me laugh right out loud.  I think catholics are masters of self-abuse.  <-- Judgmental statement gleaned from growing up catholic and then recovering from it.
