Listen up folks,

The price and availability of food is getting more serious!
Reuters has plenty of information and links to more articles, along with a world map showing the areas hit hardest.

I don't like to think of people starving, but I do generally disagree with U.S. aid to foreign countries for that purpose. In Africa in particular one often hears that funds and supplies are diverted by some despot or other for his private use and resale. We have to take care of our own. We are going into debt to feed others. That makes no sense.

If the U.N. can't handle it, fuck 'em. Sadly.

And now in this country where all fuel has to have a portion of biofuel added, land is being given over to grow fuel crops for vehicles, something which has already raised concern. In the near future, what is the point of fuel, if food is such an expensive commodity to buy.

This is all about politics and profit. We don't have to pay out the ass for fuel and people don't have to starve. But making sensible choices is impossible thanks to the interference and control over politics exerted by the multinationals.
