Well I'm pretty sure we all have to respect cockroaches, what with the ability to survive what for the rest of us would be nuclear (or as our President terms it, "nucyoular") annihilation.

I don't expect this post will cause much partisan or contentious quarreling.

That would be a waste of a truly lovely endoskeleton.  Don't go thru the change until "we" are done with you.

Respect is a funny word. I appreciate the mention but I can't respond in kind. Not from a lack of respect, I pretty much respect everyone on  here, and if pressed even to make a list of those I do not respect, I don't think I could do it.

If I did not respect you I would not be here. If I were to start naming names I would most likely leave someone out, so why get myself in trouble like that ?

And, anyone who retains the priveledge of posting on this board has a pretty good degree of self restraint. Remember the whole world can read everything we write. As such, rules are rules. There are a couple of people with whom I will still correspond who have been banned. Their opinions are no less valid. They just could not exercise the required restraint.

I am talking about Dragone and EPGAH. They must have insulted someone around here. And then they probably copped an attitude with a moderator (probably 11) thinking that the free speech coalition means anything anywhere. It does not.

So I will not mention any names. (of active members of the forum)

Thing is if you have a very strong view of something, quite out of the mainstream, even if supported by facts that does not mean you can put it all on the table and expect people to gobble it up. When you expect people to accept or respect a point of view different than their own, it takes time. You have to start slow and build a basis for your theory. You can't just blurt it all out all at once. After all, you did not arrive at your own opinions overnight.

What some people tend to do is analoguous to trying to teach calculus before basic math. Perhaps that is a bad analogy because I believe that it is possible. But why do it ? It is a ridiculous endevor to say the least.

And then we got other things. For example Domiguy. He did some posts that had me thinking "what a stupid fuck" but when I read further I figured out he was being sarcastic. So I was better off shutting the fuck up right then. That's his style, fine.

But back to the OP, I respect everyone who has the "right" to post here. If no other reason, you have managed not to shoot yourself in the foot.

I leave you with that, sorry I did name a name, nobody's perfect. Others have been sarcastic as well, so so what ?

I think I may have been sarcastic from time to time. Go figure. Just keep the proverbial grain of salt ready.

Be well all.

T

Yanno, imo, one has to have a certain level of intelligence and, of course, a sense of humor, to "get" domiguy. Domi, obviously has these qualities in, ummmm, spades. The domidude also has another quality that I admire. Unlike some others, he can put it all in a nutshell, rather than go on and on in self involved, blah , blah, blah...

I'd like to know who you respect around here, especially with the ones you find yourself on opposite sides of the political/social/financial/societal fence.

While SugarMyChurro and I hardly agree on anything, his arguments against Corporate Welfare are persuasive.

Kittinsol always seems to have a wonderful humor in dealing with not-so-humorous subjects.

Meatcleaver, while we don't agree on anything, always wants to argue!  No, really, that's a good thing!

Level, well, I think the name says it all.  Sometimes when the discussion gets "heated", his posts are simple, to the point, and give a neat little solution.
Is there a difference between i "respect you" and" i wanna do you"?  The former i try to extend to all people in general, until proven a waste ...the latter...there are a few here i'd consider...and at the end of the day isn't that all that really matters?

Slightly off tangent, but I've never wanted to 'do' someone I didn't respect. It's impossible.

I respect qualities.

For me to respect you as a person, they have to be integral to your core-not just superficial mouthings.
