I have been very disenfranchised with CM. I am looking to develop friendships with like-minded people. I realize women are bombarded with messages. However, a cordial response to a polite message would be a welcome surprise.

I am a professional. I love to write about the life-style. The intensity and passion of the life-style intrigues Me. The formality reminds Me of worlds gone by. I have not seen much of that on-line. I would expect a laundry list of items to comply with to develop a romantic relationship - for light conversation and friendship not so much.

Sorry for the rant. I am normally much nice. I welcome any responses to rebut My position.

Something of what you convey sugests an idealized vision of a "lifestyle"
 
 Is that how you come across in your emails? If so,that may be the issue.

What you say is true.  A lot of people (men, women, couples etc) do not respond to all of their email, even when it's intelligently and thoughtfully written.  There could be any number of reasons why.  They could be posing as someone they are not.  They could be in a bad mood, or not looking for anything at the time you are, they could be involved and not updated their profile.  Who the hells knows. The only reason that should concern you is that they were not interested in you.  I know that's harsh, but we've all experienced it.  Try not to take it personally, god only knows who is really on the other end when you send an email off.

If you want to talk and write about the 'lifestyle', the forums are a pretty good place to do that, tho you'll have to wade through some shit around here too, but there'll be no shortage of people willing to chat with you.

On Edit:  Your profile says you are not interested in "real life".  That's going to really narrow down your liklihood of responses to email.

Leatherist, Thank you for the feedback. I am an idealist about the life-style. It is the vein in which I view it. I am looking for intelligent dialog. I enjoy speaking with people with different views. Disregarding their opinion leads to the ordinary.

I used to be so as well.

It blinded me to the reality-and caused myself and others pain. In time I grew to understand that there is no escape from reality. But that if you listen closely, and are very careful to open yourself to new things-your reality can change.

But that dreaming in abstracts and wishing a thing so, does not make it so.
 
 You must do the WORK.

Don't get discouraged, thats the only advice I can really give. It is really hard sometimes, I know.

How can I do any work if people are non-responsive? I am wishing to invest the time and energy to develop a friendship from the ground up. I just find it challenging on CM to get break the ice.

I do'nt really have answers , but I do know it's ok to wish for something . Believing in and being persitent will help that wish come true....     In the meantime  LIGHTEN UP    have some fun     get your ass spanked...        Good luck.[sm=alien.gif]

I find the message boards so much more fun and interactive than the chat. So I have found intelligent life. :) I admit when I am wrong (sometimes).
