I have always heard that our community has a lot of members that are of what I would call the intelligent geek factor. I was wondering if that was true so I came up with this poll. Select any of the choices that are true for you. I am not sure what overall score will dictate our geek factor yet. (yes I know these are somewhat stereotypes but I mean it as innocently as possible)
Edited for my morning typing problems.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 5:59:02 AM)

Ummmmm, what if I need to check more than one box? Like 4-5? (And it's not poetry, but I do write...)

Signed,

A self-acknowledged geek and bookworm! [8|]

ETA - Make that 6-7. I've been to a number of cons and cosplayed....

KCherry -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:00:18 AM)

Check as many as apply. I checked 8 of them. -.-;

parttimehotty -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:03:46 AM)

None of the above!  What does that say about me??[sm=skiprope.gif]i'm not a geek!

KCherry -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:05:14 AM)

:) The smilie so made that message.

Real_Trouble -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:05:48 AM)

I am amazed there is nothing about math, physics, strategy games, video games, or computers on your list.

I think you have missed a large segment of the geek community.

KCherry -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:07:40 AM)

This is true, I will have to rectify this grave injustice to the geek people!

KCherry -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:12:09 AM)

There problem solved. I came up with this poll at 2 am while I was trying to sleep last night but thinking of the forums so I guess I shouldve rethought it better this morning. :) Thanks for helping on that one.

GreedyTop -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:18:42 AM)

I only checked one...*sigh*

DesFIP -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:29:03 AM)

Why limit it to anime conventions. Some of us older types were going to Star Trek cons back in the 70's.

sirsholly -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:34:05 AM)

LARPed....sounds like something cured by Rolaids

willowspirit -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 6:36:51 AM)

Hey! Only poetry? Geesh, I KNOW I'm geekier than that !
Yep, I'd say I've seen a pretty large proportion of  what I'd call "geeks" --  out of those into D/s or Master/slave relationships, or even the transcient  role-playing  of Tops and bottoms.
As a "pleaser" personality, I HAD to be a good student in school! I HAD to avoid having teachers be upset with me. I craved their approval. Intellectual geekiness? Oh, yeah.
I also now realize that developing a strong intellect helps insulate me from being so vulerable to all my powerful & scary feelings, trusting too deeply / too soon, and it helped/helps me hide how gullible I am from predators, --- I wish the tactic worked better there though....

I would have added other things to the survey, like reading the encyclopedia for fun, Sci-fi buffs, not fitting in with the cheerleader cliche', enjoying the thoughts of Stephen Hawking,... stuff like that.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 7:18:36 AM)

only checked 4 - i do have 2 computers connected as a LAN, i write poetry (as well as manuscript almost ready for publication), i have an X-File comic or anything else with that show collection (including the limited edition Barbie dolls still in the box) and back in high school (many many moons ago), i took 4 AP classes during my senior year that i was allowed to graduate earlier than my class.

i don't know why i feel so old here all the time.

badprofessor -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 12:49:49 PM)

I checked two and debated on whether or not I should check the RPG. Technically, I have played one exactly once, but it wasn't sci-fi/fantasy based. I was an IRA terrorist on loan to the FLQ on a mission to assassinate the then Canadian Minister of the Interior, Mark McGuigan. The FLQ guy left me to be ripped to shreds by attack dogs. Okay. Yeah, I should have checked it.

servantheart -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 7:48:15 PM)

Only one for me.  Not sure what to think [sm=dunno.gif]

lighthearted -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 8:13:15 PM)

only checked the last one.  it's left me very [sm=runaway.gif]confused!

DesFIP -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 8:21:36 PM)

No A.P. classes but I was the first kid at my school to ever win a National Merit Scholarship. And I was vp of the Myopians, the library helpers club. Surely that counts for something?

KCherry -> RE: Geek Factor (4/18/2008 8:23:52 PM)

I am so getting a book on effective poll making skills. lol. :)
