chyanna -> orgasms (4/18/2008 9:30:32 AM)

   This may sound unreal but upon the BDSM name everything happened                    .
while with my Master the other week, i was blindfolded, cuffed to bed and spreader bars down below
He was using various things to tease me with for an hour or two and when He said ok littlegem (his pet name for me) you may cum.
the orgasm was that intense.....apparently i stopped breathing for 1-11/2 mins and when  coming round he had sat me up i was choking apparently.  i was totally out of it for another 15 - 25 minutes and spoke  total gobbledegook......i have looked on internet found nothing of help and am now asking if Doms, subs, slaves, have experienced something similar or caused it.  and will it be likely to happen again
pLEASE take me serious it was quite scary and im urgently seeking others input to the situation because it freaked me out
Thank You chyanna

From "Go Ask Alice":  The excellent student advice column originating at Columbia University:

Dear Alice,
I have a question. I just heard that a woman can faint while having an orgasm and if so, is this normal? What causes this?

Dear Reader,
Yes, it's possible, but rare. Known by some as Le Petit Mort, "the little death," a phrase that was sometimes used in Victorian erotic literature, sexual arousal and/or orgasm can cause some women (as well as men — but it usually applies to women) to experience a sudden, temporary loss of consciousness. While this is not the norm, there are some logical explanations as to why this can occur. As people become sexually aroused, their breath shortens and quickens. For some, their breath becomes so rapid that they hyperventilate. When this happens, the normal levels of carbon dioxide in the blood fall, which may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or actually result in fainting. Too much alcohol can also have the same effect, and may even elevate the possibility of this reaction.
Another explanation is that the brain doesn't receive enough oxygen and other nutrients because of reduced blood flow. This happens because sexual arousal causes blood to flow from the brain to the genitals. This may produce an altered state of awareness or, some say, a true loss of consciousness. Some people intentionally deprive the brain of oxygen to heighten sexual pleasure and orgasm. This practice of auto-erotic asphyxiation — by oneself or to a partner — can result in accidental death.

Fainting after orgasm could also be a symptom of a serious health condition, such as an abnormal heart rhythm. During daily activities, people with this condition may feel fine. However, when they exert themselves during exercise or sexual activity, their heart can't maintain adequate blood pressure. When the exertion ends, their heart rate decreases, but the blood vessels from the muscles remain dilated, causing them to feel faint or pass out.

If fainting happens to someone you know, or to a partner, laying flat is usually all that is needed to recover. Raising the person's legs can increase blood flow to the brain and to the heart. Once the person comes to and feels better, slow movements towards an upright position will help her or him get on her or his feet. To be safe, it's a good idea for anyone who repeatedly has these fainting "spells" to talk with her or his health care provider.

Brain studies have indicated that orgasm is much like epilepsy, and your behavior following an orgasm isn't unusual in that context.

DesFIP -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 9:42:13 AM)

I've fainted once from an orgasm. However it involved a hot tub and inserted ice cubes. These days I'm out of the hot tub before I have sex. I'm assuming the temp changes caused a sudden drop in blood pressure.

MastrVran -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 9:59:59 AM)

My slave does something very similar, especially from oral, usually recieving. Here is the normal response, she startes orgasming, then isnt allowed any respite, and keeps up a steady stream of orgasms with some periods where she not orgasming but building to one. As another orgasm approaches, they are getting stonger, and her breath is getting shorter and she tenses very intensely some times holding her breath, and then at some point, after 10 or more, she will suddenly just stop moving and become completely still and her body goes limp. Her pulse and resperation goes almost immediately to sleep normal. And for anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes, she is unconscious. If she takes a long time awakening, she will often come to with no speach, and unable to move much. Then with in a few minutes, she starts coming back fully and everything returns to normal. Also she sometimes, has a headache and a bit of nausea if she was out a while. But those go away by the time she is up and around. Now one thing I have seen that speeds up the return process, is after a brief rest, start gently licking her again...and usually she starts after a brief period, to respond again. Take it slow..and just bring her up and awake and she has no effects from it other than being aroused again.

So anyway, once she is out cold, her heart beat, bloodpressure, pulse, and respiration goes straight to normal. And its just like she is asleep till she wakes up. All I can say is yeah it scares her, but she loves the intensity.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 10:10:40 AM)

I have seen it hapen only once, with a male. I dont know that that necessarily helps with your problem, but it was after several closely timed orgasms. Part of the problem was dehydration, from the extended playtime. The lack of bloodflow to the brain and the dehydration made him essentially just pass out after his 3rd one in close succession.
Quick fix, though, small sips of water during playtime. It helped with him, though if dehydration didnt effect you in the first place it might not with you. Your reaction afterwards does sound like the effects after being dehydrated, the incoherent parts and all.

A really good orgasm can easily make me stop breathing for about 20 seconds I'm told and then I'll get ice cold as the blood has all collected in one particular area of my body. I can't remember ever being afraid of that happening to me just floaty and content and safe -- I had to feel very safe and in tune with my partner to experience that.

You so had me until the nausea.

I read a book on astrology years ago that said that Scorpios like sex so much because it's the closest thing to death that they can experience in this life, I think that it has a ring of truth in it for this scorp, at least.  I've slipped into semi-consiousness with an intense orgasm before and I hopefully will again, but never anything as close to this.  I'd love to expereince it if I didn't think it would scare the beejeebus out of m'Lord

derfrewop -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 10:48:18 AM)

I once got stuck with finding out all the known causes of hyperventilation emergencies (device approval paperwork). Of course I paid close attention to the sexually related ones and what you describe sounds a lot like them.

Most people approaching an orgasm are breathing in an oxygen restricting manner. The breath play people are doing the same thing as are a lot of "non-sexual earth shattering experiences" like chanting, dancing, distance runners, breathwork etc. In common with all of these, you maintained that altered breathing pattern for a long time until given a release at which time an intense psychic, sexual and physical experience occurred. The great thing about all of the hyperventilation techniques is that your body simply stops breathing until it needs to breath again.

Also in common with all of these, your perception of the event is strongly determined by the set and setting of the event. Your partner was seriously worried that your life was in danger. What you write screams " Oh My God I nearly Killed Myself!!!" which aligns closely with what was presented to you at the time. Go see a doctor for the comfort it will give but realistically he's gonna say you fainted from an orgasm without any significant lasting effects. His main interest would more likely be prurient rather than medical.

What you have experienced is not a danger but a spontaneous gift from yourself, your partner and the universe. There are no words to describe it, mere electrons and air vibrations cannot possibly encompass the symphonic hum of the universe. It sounds like you enjoyed yourself immensely until everything got scary. Give your partner a big kiss, it takes someone special to help others achieve this. Then tell your partner to go take a first aid certificate course. He did everything right except that he was scared by facing the unknown. Knowing will help that confidence he will need as you approach this again. Because most people who spontaneously achieve that bliss state tend to do it again.

I'm so happy for you and jealous at the same time. Do what you need to soothe your fears and be patient, you are likely to have a recurrence, yet, usually not for a fairly long period of time.

MastrVran -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 10:48:42 AM)

I believe the nausea part is created from the room spinning effect. She has never gotten sick. Just a kind of seasick feeling and not all the time, just occasionally, usually after a long time being out. There have never been any lasting bad effects. Once she can sit up the nausea goes away, so it may also be because she doesnt sleep on her back usually and so may be swallowing differently?

kiwisub12 -> RE: orgasms (4/18/2008 5:00:12 PM)

Just so you know, if you pass out and stop breathing from hyperventilating, once your o2 and co2 levels return to normal levels you will start breathing again.  This happens very rapidly.  I have never heard of anyone die from hyperventilation, and have read a lot of medical literature (work related)

if you check out medically, then enjoy your "little deaths".

chyanna -> RE: orgasms (4/23/2008 4:24:54 PM)
