EmeraldSlave2 -> RE: Infulence (10/10/2005 2:56:19 PM)

I guess I'd have to say my mother, I did live with her for a huge majority of my life at this point and was totally dependent upon her for a few years.

There are other more poingant and recent people who have a larger day to day relevance and influence on my life right now, but who I am and who I was definitely goes in large part to my mother.

My mom , she will always stand by me through good and bad and is never ashamed of her kids

One of my teachers who had faith in my abilites when i had given up.

And my parents who have always been there for me.

My mom. She had such a grasp on what was really important in life and she taught me what unconditional love was.

Good question. For me, it was, bizarre as this will sound, an on-line friend that I never met in rl. We spent years emailing each other and talked a few times on the telephone. He was older and wiser about everything in life than I will ever be. He was talented and accomplished in many things, yet troubled. He was a calming influence when I was going through some difficult life transitions. We lost touch over a year ago, but I will always value his friendship. His best advice to me: "If you must wallow, allow yourself a 5 minute pity party, then move on."

My parents taught me everything about what kind of person I never wanted to be. Their influence led me to to establishing standards for myself that have directly led me to who I am today. While I don't feel grateful for those harsh lessons, surviving them has made me someone I can respect.

My first Master has had, to date, the most influence in my life. He opened up and entire new world to me and introduced me to the woman i was and have become. He believed in me, when no one else (including myself) did, and no matter what else happened he loved me for all i was worth. His most cherished gift, however, was when he knew I was ready, he stretched out his hand, and gave me the freedom and strength to soar.

What a Man. :)

One of my high school teachers. Essentially when I was just going through the motions she knew I had a great potential. Still today almost 20 year's later she is harassing me for my first book.

Mother and Father of course as well because if it weren't for them I would'nt be here today.

WickedKev -> RE: Infulence (10/10/2005 4:57:11 PM)

My parents were to blame......

Royce -> RE: Infulence (10/10/2005 5:25:33 PM)

My parents taught me integrity, honesty, and tolerance. They were more then loving parents, they were awesome teachers.

Wow, this is a tough question for me! i guess i'll answer with my first instinct and say my mother, though for much different reasons then those who stated the same. By watching my mother, seeing her for who she truly was, i learned how i DIDN'T want to be. i was going to list a whole laundry list of her traits that were negative but i changed my mind, it's enough to know that i strived to better my life in the face of adversity. i would like to say though that my mom did teach me some good things, one of those being that i never had to lay down and take crap, that it was ok to stand up for myself and my needs.

And here I always believed he was the son of Satan............

OscarHargraves -> RE: Infulence (10/10/2005 9:04:52 PM)

My parents both had a huge influence on me of course, but the one person who I credit with the largest (good) influence would have to be my wife.

IronBear -> RE: Infulence (10/10/2005 10:38:10 PM)

My Father, he trained me, he drove me, he punished me when necessary, he encourages me, he taught me right from wrong, good from evil, excelence from mediocrity, he never lost faith in me. He made me stand on my own two feet and made me know what it was to be a man.

My Sensai, he was a second father and taught me the codes he lived by. he taught me compassion, humour, love of all life, how to stand against things which I believe to be wrong irrespective of the cost to me. He taught me that there is no such thing as failure only a lack of sucess. He taught me that you can not fail only quit., and quitting is not an option.

My mother has been my greatest influence. She gave me faith and unconditional love. She is the strongest woman I know and has been through more then most people should ever have to go through, and still remains sane.

Currently, my greatest influence is my Dom. He became mine when I saw how serious he was at helping me to change parts of my life that I really wanted changing. He takes action which helps me to take action. He believes and supports me so much that with him I really do feel I can do anything.
