Status: offline 		I am a Submissive male. and have been asked to give a letter of introduction. i am new to this and do not know what one should include. if you can i would love the help

Status: offline 		Usually that goes hand in hand with a petition for service. It can be one of the more important things your write. I remember the tremendous pressure when I was writing mine. As long as it's from the heart, and your realistic in what your write, that's what matters. It's probably okay to look at a few for ideas, but whatever you do make sure it's you and not something you copied.

Status: offline 		You might want to consult etiquette books from the Victorian era when letters of introduction were very common. A good sized local library might have those or be able to get you one.

Or try a google search though as always with the Internet be wary of what you read.

Status: offline 		i agree with tammy but i disagree subgreenbay....i dont think a letter where you are introducing yourself, should be a petition of service.

a petition of service IMO is a deeply personal intimate decision one makes after they have met someone and feel connected to them and then want to serve them.

when i am asked by someone who does not know me, to serve me, it does not endear them to me at all, in fact it repels.

Status: offline 		Tell the person about you, your interests (in and out of the lifestyle), your experience if any and the type of slave or submissive you are.

Be very sure to read the dominant's profile well before writing your introduction as it should be written to relate to what they require. If you have specific talents such a being a chef, carpenter, mechanic then it should be mentioned as these things may be an asset to the one who might take you.

Whatever you do, DO NOT include a fantasy wish list of interests or a long list of hard limits. We don't want to know what you fantasize about or hope we will do with/to you. We don't want to read that you have NO limits because it is a lie, everyone has limits.

Tell the dominant about you so she/he can learn about the person. Use proper grammar and spelling because you only get one chance to make a good first impression.

Status: offline 		I'll tell you the things that I most hate so that you can avoid them.  I don't want a man telling me how handsome he is, how he knows exactly what I need, how he is ready to relocate and be my full time slave, or anything else over the top in the first email. 

What I want to know is a little about him - not just lifestyle but about his general personality and likes and dislikes.  I prefer a photo so that I have a better feel for who I am talking to.  I enjoy being treated respectfully but not like the man thinks that he deserves to be ground under the heel of my boot.  I enjoy someone who presents themselves intelligently and with a sense of humor.

Status: offline 		maybe you could approach it as you would a business cover letter you'd send out with your resume... thanking the mistress for the opportunity, an overview of who you are, etc. Just instead of what traits an employer would look for, talk about what traits you have the would be useful for a mistress. List what experience you have, and if you have none, perhaps what you're interested in learning most. good luck! I can proofread well (student journalist here) if you'd like!

Status: offline 		What I don't think an Introductory email should be:   a form letter, full of how you want to engage in <insert kinky activity here>, full of BS about how you're going to relocate and be my slave, full of BS period.

What I think an Introductory email should be:  acknowledgement that you've read my profile and reasonably fit what I seek, and enough about yourself as a person to spur further discussion, full complete sentences, longer than one line.

From the historical vanilla world, a "letter of introduction" was written by someone who knew the person being introduced, even if they were not known to the person who might wish to read it. Think "letter of reference" and you'll have a rough idea.

Now, I'm not saying this applies in the scene; I'm still sorting out terminology (which tends to be used differently in different parts of the country, and different sub-cultures even within the scene!) after two years active and several years on the sidelines.

Your profile interested me in that You are seeking "a, b and c" (list the 3 main requirements the Lady has in Her profile). i believe i would be able to fulfill Your requirements in that i am "d, e and f " (respond to show how you fit Her requirements). However, i was uncertain what You meant by "g and h" (anything you didn't understand in what She wrote or don't think fits you) and at the moment, i don't think i could do "i or j" (anything She listed as a 'like' that you have as a limit or fear but not a hard limit). I have chosen to use the small letter for sub, capital for Dominant here ... it's not essential, some Dommes like it, others don't. Take your lead in that from how She has written Her profile! Do make sure you have the correct spelling and that your work is grammatically sound. From previous threads, it is safe to say that impresses more Dommes than it alienates!
