cloudboy -> NFL Draft (4/20/2008 6:44:31 PM)

What are your thoughts on the upcoming NFL draft?

What will the Cowboys do with their two draft picks? Will they trade up or stay pat?

Is Matt Ryan overrated?

How far will Brian Brohm slide? Is he underrated.

Is Derin McFadden comparable to Adrian Peterson?

Some draft pundits consider Jake Long to be the third best OT in draft.

I am not a fan of Chad Henne. (Too stiff.)

Will Joe Flacco be the best QB in the end?

Who is your sleeper? (I like Steve Slaton from WV in the later rounds.)

Who will ATL, KAN, and the NYJ target?

--------

As a Ravens fan, I hope that BAL can trade down and take Brian Brohm further back in the draft.

-------

The deepest positions of this draft look to be OT and RB.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming NFL draft? - It can't get here soon enough.

What will the Cowboys do with their two draft picks? Will they trade up or stay pat? They best stay pat.

Is Matt Ryan overrated? - Probably not.

How far will Brian Brohm slide? Is he underrated. - He is. He may be better than Ryan.

Is Derin McFadden comparable to Adrian Peterson? - Close, but not quite.

Some draft pundits consider Jake Long to be the third best OT in draft. - They are NUTS.

I am not a fan of Chad Henne. (Too stiff.) - Yeah, he's a 4th rounder at best.

Will Joe Flacco be the best QB in the end? - No.

Who is your sleeper? (I like Steve Slaton from WV in the later rounds.) - not so much a sleeper, but Jerod Mayo, LB from Tennessee. Fast, and hits like a fucking train.

If true, seems like it would be prudent to trade out of the top ten and grab Brohm later. On the other hand, the high perceived value of Flacco, Henne, and Brohm might contribute to Ryan sliding down to the Ravens at #8, as ATL, KC, and NYJ figure to maybe nab their own QB prospect in Rd #2.

Mike Lupica was dissing Derrin McFadden saying, "I wouldn't draft him," but he sure did overhype Reggie Bush while castigating the Texans for picking Mario Williams.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: NFL Draft (4/20/2008 8:01:59 PM)

As a WVU fan I didn't like Slaton so much,he stayed hurt  and can't run inside..a 3rd round pick I would say to the Dolphins...It will cost to much to sign a first rounder this year,I would trade down to the end of the first round unless I absolutely need a fix in a hurry..

RavenofPK -> RE: NFL Draft (4/20/2008 10:39:24 PM)

How about the fact that the entire draft as a concept is over rated, and ESPN wastes enough money on such a borefest to feed a third world country.

Are you actually serious?

I haven't missed the first day in years.... The gym I belong to throws a little pot-luck breakfast together and a bunch of us tune in.

They could move up to grab Mendenall if it looks good, but personally, I think the boys will stay right where they're at. I think they'll take a big receiver--in the mold of Irvin--with their first pick and a RB or CB with their second pick.

I think this is the deepest quarterback draft in a while and I like Ryan. I think the Chiefs will swoop him up with their first pick.

Nah....McFadden is more in the mold of Bush than Peterson. Mendenall with his shiftiness and great burst is more of a Peterson type back.

Personally.....I like Otah over Clady or Long. Otah is a mauler with the best feet in the draft. I think Clady is more overrated than Long though.

He threw for a lota yards without many picks, but I think Brohm has a much bigger upside.

My sleepers are Lavelle Hawkins and Shawn Crable, with Crable hopefully going to my Niners. Crable had 29 reps on the BP for a lanky guy. The brother is hella athletic, has great quickness around the ends, and long-ass arms--to bat down balls-- in the mold of Manny Lawson.

Hopefully for my Niners we select Groves/Phillips, Talib/Cherilus and Crable.

Draft Grades :

The Cowboys, Steelers and Carolina had the best draft, with the Steelers winding up with the ''steal'' {Pardon the the pun} of the draft in picking up Mendenall so late. Mendenall is going to be a force in the NFL.

And if Adam can mind his P's & Q's in Dallas, well then the boys will have done spectacular.

The losers were Detroit and Cleveland. Man I like Cherilus.....but that early? And I hope Balmer doesn't revert back to a lazy, underachiever for my niners.

Goodell did a hellva job shortening the selection times.

I agree on the three best, especially Pittsburgh, and the worst, IMO, were the Titans. Worst receiving corps in the league going into the draft, and only picked up one WR, very late in the draft. Plus, the rest of their guys they picked [sm=dunno.gif]

ESPN needs to get rid of Keyshawn Johnson and Steve Young, as well. Annoying.
