Actually, one of the major deciding factors in deciding NOT to persue a relationship with a girl stemmed from her pet.

I am vehemently against people keeping wild animals as pets, or the hybrid cross of such. She had a wolf/dog hybrid. I told her that she either had to find another home for it or it would have to be spayed and caged at her expense. Also once that animal passed away, it would not be replaced with a similar pet.

It was one of many, points of contention.

i did hybrid rescue for the Missouri Fish and Wildlife for three years.  i am also against breeding of hybrids for pleasure or pets. River is a coyote hybrid and a therapy dog and used for educational purposes.pamela

I do alot of rehab work with local shelters and tend to bring home unadoptables. One I have now, is a coydog so I understand the special needs of yours. It takes alot of patience sometimes.

Lucky for me we both LOVE all animals the same, I would never be able to be involved with someone who wouldn't allow me to have them. As far as responsibility my pet are my responsibility.

It's not like cats are ever going to listen anyways - collar or no. :)

hopelessfool -> RE: a slave's pets (4/22/2008 1:29:37 PM)

Hey, my cat listens...
Mostly to the orders shes given me to give to her. Like the tail swish and wide eyes with the soft mew means to say, come on up. And the slight purr meow with a rub over with the tail means to ask her if her wants a treat, which she then in returns replys to with a headbutting yes. (gods Ive been trained by a cat...)

Master is not normally a fan of cats, but loves Our cat. She started out as mine and became Ours. They have special games and rituals i'm not alloud to play. She will make slaves of us all...

I am very much upfront about  making sure any dom I am considering getting involved with knows that I have dogs and have added them to my profile pictures ... if a Dom does not like dogs and does not part them to be part of his life or considers them outside animals only , I would expect that to be mentioned upfront as well .... that way I know that if I decide to continue involvement that their would be an expectation I would have to get rid of them,  better to been done before emotional involvement takes place for either party, I do not expect any dom to take over responsibility of my pets in regards to care or financially but I also would not be willing to get rid of my pet for them or force them to become outdoor pets especially considering the have alway been indoor pet and 3 out of  the 4  are not suited to be outdoor animals.

The one dom that visited here had one small dog in the past, he was not quite  sure before he came,  of what to think about having 4 in a house with 2 being big dogs and had assumed it would be chaotic and was quite pleasantly surprised  at how quiet they were and how well they got along  together,    after spending a few days and then returning home to an empty house he said he wished he could have snuck 2 of them with him in his suitcase to take back home with him and that he found he even missed them.   And I guess the foursome did not scare him off as he is even willing to come back for another visit this summer.

antipode -> RE: a slave's pets (4/22/2008 4:32:29 PM)

Nope. I don't collar the pets, the house, the car, the mother-in-law, the washing up, the teddy bear, or the laundry. Sub wants something, she needs to negotiate that into the collar. A collar is for a person, not the menagerie. In my particular case, I have always made the sub get rid of the pet(s), all attention must be on me, without any distractions.

DesFIP -> RE: a slave's pets (4/22/2008 7:27:02 PM)

With that said about house pets, he isn't obligated to get involved with the horse. I think his one interaction has been to hold out his palm with a hard candy on it and allow the horse to eat it. But he has volunteered to help reorganize the horse tack by building a closet to hold most of the stuff.

But I would no more get involved with someone who demanded I get rid of my pet, then I would someone who demanded I get rid of my children. I find such people lack empathy.

Yes my River is a coydog. Which is why it is important for Master to learn to handle her. If anything ever happens to me, Master must learn to control River.
i was joking about collaring the dog also...(though girl is going to get a tag that says something along the lines of Master Dragon's girl's girl dog just for the fun of it)
River goes with U/us to the outdoor BDsM events. She wears clothes (tshirts with advertisments) or back packs for camping trips. She is involved in my life, she's not just a pet she is a therapy dog. :)
