Dr. Laura Schlessinger --- Lifstyler??

Status: offline 		Although my wife and I allways had a sort of D/S dynamic, the one who really pushed it off for my wife believe it or not was Dr. Laura's radio show and her pushing the book 'Proper care and feeding of husbands'.  We had allways been into bondage and kinky sex of course but I feel that it was my wife reading this book that totaly caused her to go submisive and consequently making both our lives great.

I was listening to her show today on the radio and taking in the female bashing that I love to hear on ocasion and was thinking how unusual of source this was for my wife.  I never read the book because I promised her I wouldnt but its so strange for profesionals to lead someone to this kind of lifestyle.

To anyone who has read the book or listened to her show have you found anything about her viewpoints a source of insperiation for living in this lifestyle?  As I said I told my wife I would never read the book which makes me really curiouse as to how much of what Dr. Laura says matches this lifestyle as far as the day to day attitudes.

Status: offline 		The only time I have ever listened to Dr. Laura is when I was on long road trips and was bored out of my mind.  I seriously doubt that she is a lifestyler, and I don't see how anyone could gain any knowledge of any kind from her advice, rants, and writings.  The woman is a lunatic.

Status: offline 		haven't read any of her books...only listened to her talk show while driving long distances...the suprise and bewilderment this slave experienced while listening to her assumptions about folks based on her rigid gender stereotypes and intolerance kept this slave alert.
 
the thing that bothers this slave the most about her rants is that they run under the assumption that ALL men are a certain way and ALL women are a certain way...if not, they need therapy or they are going to hell.  while it sells a lot of books, it isn't exactly inclusive or celebratory of the diversity that exists quite happily, without the need for therapy, from within the genders she generalizes about.
 
the sort of D/s that she espouses has been embraced by certain religious vanilla's for centuries...women(after Holy matrimony) be subservient to your man(that you are into a legal marriage contract with) while he protects and provides for you. 
 
she has referenced sadomasochism as "evil", grouping it with a few things that are against TOS to mention here.
 
this slave wouldn't consider her an "alternative lifestyler", which is what she assumes folks mean when they say "Lifestyler".
 
Dr. Laura presents as a bible-thumping vanilla, typically intolerant and an outspoken critic of alternative lifestyles that include sexual orientations, roles or activities that occur outside of traditional, mainstream, socially accepted and religiously approved unions/positions.

Dr Laura is a total fucking putz.

A katrillion people listen to her show every day, it's on in every metropolitan area...and she espouses her reign on everyone.....telling others how to live their lives.

Listen to her...she'll tell you how to stay married and not cheat....she cheated on two husbands.

She'll tell you how to raise your children....be a stay at home Mom...she moved three times, left her kids twice....

Anyone that listens to her is a sheep.

Is it?  O.o  i'm not sure about someone going to see a psychiatrist or any other professional of that sort and then being referred to this lifestyle as part of their treatment (if that's what you are referring to, per se), but i'd be willing to bet it's happened a time or two.

As far as Dr. Laura is concerned, my parents (and i must admit, sometimes i did myself) listened to her talk show for awhile a few years ago [along with Rush Linbaugh (sp?)], but now, if we do, it's only on occasion.  Dad prefers more of the political radio talk shows now, and Mom listens to her music CDs.  Mom bought me a book or two of hers; i have yet to read them, as you have.

Dr. Laura is a right wing GOP christian nutcase of the worst sort. She's a female version of Rev. Dobson. Her line back in the early 90's was that gays were sick, and should be locked away as mentally ill. She's a bigot, and a hipocrite.

Feel free to read her books if you must. At least just borrow them from your local public library, so you don't put any more money in her filthy, hate mongering pocket.

She is a firm believer in one parent staying home with the child (so who is with HER kid while she is working?).  Her beliefs are not realistic in todays society and, for those silly enough to take her seriously, can simply instill unneeded guilt.

One Twue Wayism of the worst kind. Meh I heard about her in the early 90s,  she hasnt impressed me beyond not wanting to be anything she advocates, oh apart from a stay at home mom, but that was a conscious choice 20 odd years ago....before she climbed out of the slime.
hmmm one of those people I really dont like and there are very few of them around.

Status: offline 		Doctor Laura does many things for childrens charities and women that need help. She doesn't cut them alot of slack, she tells it like it is. Is she a hypocrite, maybe but she doesn't believe in putting your kids through day care, just to afford a new car. She believes in the family and is against abortion.

How could she be anything but admired??
