Hello all,

I'm after sound dampening advice--Mi amore & I just moved into a new place and (as I'd expected--although it is a bit worse than I'd thought it might be) there's almost no insulation. It's an old house and sound cuts right through it. I'll take steps to modify the house if need be, but right now I'm just looking for good muzzles and hood (which she's been whispering about for some time). I found some good prospects at Madame S (I'm in the bay area) but I thought it wise to seek advice here about positive and negative gear experiences when it comes to sound dampening quality. I'm willing to plop down the $400 good hoods seem to start at, and I'm willing forego what I'd prefer (a style-over-function zip hood) but if I'm going to do so I want to get something that really works. I don't expect any muzzle/hood to completely solve our problem--she likes to scream and I don't want to deny her that--but it would be nice to find something that at least didn't cause the police to send the constablery around. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
