Lose my eyesight. And I thought it was happening, last year. I had, for the first time, what is called a Scintillating scotoma . To say I was freaked out would be the understatement of the century.

Oh, that's my biggest fear, too. I have diabetic retinopathy, and an operation two and a half years ago on my right eye led to glaucoma and losing total sight in that eye. My left eye is legally blind - acuity comes and goes with hemorhages. I am a reader and writer, and I know intellectually that I could continue my career without sight, but the prospect leaves me in a cold sweat.

pip, guarding what sight I have left

Diabetes is what first got me to worrying about all this. When it kicked in back in December of 2006, my eyesight went haywire. I got everything stabilized, but then I began to get migraines, and the scotoma. Yeesh.

To die lonely and alone would kind of suck.....However, there would be something cool about dying in such a manner that the majority of you might be splattered on others.

Well, I hope your vision gets better, HK. I'd be lost w/o my eyes. I don't want to have to rely on others.
TY. It probably isn't going to improve much more, if at all, except the change I will see when I have surgery for cataracts. It's been nearly 2.5 years since I had the scleral buckle put in place, and almost 7 months since I had it removed.

If I get problems in my right eye, I might be screwed.

Mine are going to sound a bit odd...... My fear is to end up homeless, alone, dying in a card board box {because no one loves me you see}, miserable, bitter, and hateful...
*edited to add* The card board box that i'm living in is always placed at the bottom of the bridge.
No issues here...
:P

To pass from view back to the earth-never having accomplished anything of worth to the race and planet that made all of my opportunities possible.

You're hurting the Republican's feelings.....

BrigandDoom -> RE: "I dont want that happen to me" (4/24/2008 4:42:01 PM)

My greatest fear was public exposure about my private life, it unfortubnately happened and the b'stard who outed be did me a huge favour lol. Rather than being marginalised by my friends, it actually made a talking point and not a figure of fun! So I've now faced that, just hope that my fear of never winning the lottery is next.....

Marc2b -> RE: "I dont want that happen to me" (4/24/2008 6:15:37 PM)

All I know is that if I ever saw a tornado bearing down on me, every single muscle in my body would seize up.

Except my bowels.

I can think of one thing that would be worse and I’m surprised no guys around here have coped to it yet.

Yep. You guessed it. Castration. I’m mean really, what would be the point in living? To sit on the couch listening to Barry Manilow and eating bon bons?

patwi -> RE: "I dont want that happen to me" (4/24/2008 6:26:52 PM)

I think right now at this point in my life my greatest fear is having a child. Happily, i'm in a situation where that will not happen. Well...i'm not happy about the situation, just about the no pregnancy chances.
