You certainly aren't obligated to see everyone who asks!

My experience at a house of domination was that you pretty much had to do whatever session came in for you. But as an Independent, I refuse clients I have no interest in.

Sometimes they want to explore scenes that either bore or repulse me.
Sometimes you get people who really wan sex, but don't want to pay the high cost that an attractive prostitute would charge: so they call up an attractive Pro Domme and petition for an hour of facesitting and/or "breast worship."
I get requests for dancing and massages. Hour-long foot sessions (which might be great fun for another Domme, but bores me to tears). If I had to take just whoever asked, I'd quit!

littlesarbonn -> RE: pro mistress cannot really choose their clients? (4/23/2008 1:30:42 PM)

The original question asks can a pro mistress really choose her clients. The answer would have to be a resounding no. She can choose who she does NOT want as her clients, but unfortunately, she's still left with the need to find a client that is first interested in paying for her services. So, the real choice she has is who not to choose, not really who to choose. I've had a large number of proclaimed pro dominants who have contacted me "announcing" their availability for sessions in my area; unfortunately, that doesn't net them a future client, so the choice really remained with the potential client in that circumstance.

I never had a problem finding clients....There is a endless supply of paying clients here in the S.F. Bay area...

Did you really find them, or did they find you? No one's arguing that there isn't a large number of clients in any particular geographical location. Completely different subject that I don't think there's a single rational person that would argue against.

They found me through friends and my clients...

I love posting question on here cause i always get sooo interesting answers :)

Now that i read about it..its true..why cannt they chooose? Well my question was focus on the fact that if they say "No" to all clients probably then they dont have any business at all :P But now that i read all of you i realize that besides economic gain, indeed they have to think in other propritary aspects like safety and indeed compability.

Wow i was shocked by the porcentage of mens being rejected by pro mistress...in my experience 90% its quite similar to the porcentage of men we reject non pro mistress... :)

Yet indeed this 10% that remains after slections, pro and non pro have a lot of fun! After reading you, indeed i understand now that no matter pro or not, have to be carefull a lot of crazy and fake  people out there. Indeed, something we know for sure the fem doms, its that the male subs amount seems to be a endless number, so for sure we will found someone to play that have the same kinks that us.

Thanks for sharing :D

This exactly describes the personal side of dom'ing, too, though.  Susbsitute the word "partner" for "client" and it's the same.  You can only partner with those who wish to be your partners, you can only sift through those and dispose of the ones you don't want.

And again it's the same with whether the sub approaches the domme or vice versa:  both occur, and the person being approched is the one who has the first opportunity to turn down.

Any professional---doctor, lawyer, CPA---has to market him/herself and wait for someone to come to them.  That's the marketplace, regardless of commodity.

Great topic, it shows that many of us are very picky.

It seems to me that if a Pro Domme wants to reject a slave/client and were not able to, the ensuing relationship would be horrible for the both of them. The Domme will be miseraable and the slave will be paying for the misery he doesnt want. Its better to reject him and make everyone happy

I don't know of any professional mistress who feels she has to take all comers.  In fact, some of their favorite stories are of people they rejected despite having handfuls of cash waved at them.

When I managed Inner Explorations (a Boston-based domination service) all of our contractors knew that they could reject a scene or an individual at any time, even in the middle of a scene.  The policy was that the customer would be refunded a prorated portion of his (vast majority were male) fee and the contractor received a proportionally reduced payment.

O.o Looks like I'm on the wrong side of things... haha maybe I should try the whole pro-domme thing... I have a feeling it wouldn't go over too well. >.>

Among the most popular fem-dommes at Inner Explorations were a number of submissives.  The guys didn't know it but the women were getting off on bottoming to their scenes.  I had to stop myself from giggling as guys told me what "natural dominants" were on the staff.

[grin] Think about it

She's still making a choice by not choosing someone.. it seems to me that's what the OP was asking...

Hehe, I'm independent as of right now, if I were to top, I think I might have to work with another Domme at first.

Interesting topic OP.

DelilahDeb -> RE: pro mistress cannot really choose their clients? (4/24/2008 12:33:01 AM)

Any small business entrepreneur or independent contractor, whatever sort of service they provide, chooses their pool of potential clients by where and how they market themselves/advertise/network. If one is, say, a travelling farrier, one would do better to advertise at horse shows and rodeos than at NASCAR races.

Also not a Pro.  However, I DO run a small retail business.  I have been known to throw people out of my store.  (Even called the Cops to remove one jackass... but  that's a long story.)  In this day and age where people think they can go into any store and act like it's their own personal playground, they are so SHOCKED to be told  "I do not need or want your business.  This is private property.  Get out!"  If I can toss a retail client out on their butts, I can't imagine why a Pro Domme would tolerate a client she doesn't enjoy.

I used to do the same with fucktards who wanted me to make things for them. Yesterday for $1.95. The gall of some american consumers astounds me-do I look chinese?

I am a Pro  Domme and have to agree with the others that have posted. I do not "recruit" clients. I occassionally will run an ad (especially if travelling to a different city) and am building a website (but mostly for clips for sale). I am VERY selective with who I see, and of the men that contact me, I don't know if it is as high as 90%, but it is by far the majority that I turn down. It is about supply and demand, and fortunately, there are far more submissive men willing to pay to session than there is time in a day! I do CRAVE the high of Domination, and sometimes, turning someone down that I don't think I will like actually is a power trip in itself!

I look to see that we have common interests, but also (with very few exceptions - like trampling, just love it, and perform out/do videos - so I will trample almost anyone!) it must be totally about the power exchange as opposed to a pay for session composed of a certain activity. Also, I must feel a connection to someone, that we "click" which to me is mostly about the ability to communicate. I have had subs that have gotten through screening, but then when I try to talk a bit before we start to play it is like pulling teeth. I just know the session is going to suck. I have told more than one man I was sorry, and just did not want to go through with the session, and have found it extremely amusing when they start offering to raise the tribute. If I say no...that is no...and no amount of money will change my mind. Seriously, I have been called insane when I have told others stories of what I have turned down. The thing is, I love what I do, and do it so that I can live MY life by MY rules! I was a corporate executive at one point and made more well into 6 figures a year...but it didn't make me happy. I am thankful of the experiences I have had that have allowed me to find a place in life where my priorities are what they are and I have the happiness that I have found.

BTW - thank you to the OP for a post about Pro Dommes that isn't the same old thing!

MsSaskia -> RE: pro mistress cannot really choose their clients? (4/25/2008 4:12:18 PM)

I'm a professional, as well as lifestyle, and run a large professional house of domination.  I do all the screening and, while we do play with people for sessions who we might not choose to be in a long term relationship with,  there are a lot of people who are turned away for various reasons.  Also, anytime someone that works at my house doesn't want to see a client or do a particular type of session, I respect their wishes.

Thanks for your input here.  It's amazing how many people become angry with me when I tell them we don't offer a particular service they're asking about.  It's not unusual for them to snidely inform me that if I actually wanted to make any money in my business, I should consider doing what the customer asks, no matter what that is.  It feels good to hang up on those callers.

We've only had one session where the domme and the client both chose to end the session.  They hadn't gotten very far into it, but I refunded half his money.  The domme later told me that he'd been very grabby with her and extremely unpleasant on about every level, so when he called back a few days later hoping to schedule with someone else, he found that his calls wouldn't be returned.
