As for Dr D.  I enjoy his work, but I personally find this piece would be a lie to me.
The artist would be the person dying, not him.  Sure it may be his idea, but I don't believe an idea leads to it being his, particularly as is reported, the person who is dying will have a huge say on the whole procedure.  To me, it would be like a ghost writer, only one you would see.

I thought that was a really interesting perspective.  I see both the dying one and Dr. D as part of the art project (if one calls it that).  Like Ansel Adams presents a tree in his photos, what is the artist there - Adams, or the tree?  I believe one can present something in an artistic way, and that's what makes it art.

This is one of my favorite pieces, the first time I saw it (in the tate modern) I was totally transfixed, what I read into it interestingly is what the artist intended, though not many people that I have showed it to sees the artists meaning. I have of course given it slightly away by posting it here.

Death is the unknown, we are afraid of it because no one can tell us what it feels like, and though all experiances in our lives are our own we still try to make sense of them, give them logic. Death is one of the only sure things in life yet we have no clue what it means.

Thus we see the great modern Western Civilization rumbling along sanitising all it touches and taking away humanity... Give me the pagan! Give me the Barbariasn! Let them stand vigil when I die and lay a sword on my chest as they burn me. I will enter the halls oif my forfathers in Valhalla happily.

As an artist myself, I would absolutely positively volunter for the job. I just might yet. But the guy will have to wait until who knows when. Thanks for the heads up. Doubt he'll wait forty years for me but who knows. lol

that rotten bastard!   how dare he!

this cheapens life- reduces it to a gawking triviality, it mocks humanity; it commoditizes  agony.

anyone who tunes into it- is fueling the fire.

how dare he!

-as one ages- we know more and more people who are dead.  gram held her sister as she died. aunt J woke up with a dead husband in her bed.
we all will have our war stories.

taboo is a nasty way of dissing civility.

-->
my next art piece is one where in a store window in time square- i violently penitrate this "artist"  - you know it is taboo.; while slitting his throat; all the the disney song "it is a small world after all";  there will be hotdogs, balloons and cotton candy!!!!

Nice show HB. [:D]

Hey OG

For me, Ansel would be the artist, not the tree because it's his artistic interpretation.  Lighting, exposure, choice of subject.(I am a huge fan).
But then again, to me, the tree by itself is a work of art.
And whilst DrD will chose the 'subject' essentially, if he does give the subject so much input, it would become theres.

Its like some of Hursts socalled work and the ghost writers of authors.  Dr D is merely the name.  It's not in reality his work IMO.  Unnlike Pollock for example who created his paintings, not others doing it in the shadows.

Is it just me, or did anyone else find that sensual and exciting?
Thank you for posting that MasterIB.  Respects as always to you and your house, and please send my thoughts to Lady Neets.
