Status: offline 		i didnt think this belonged in humor or random stupidity......i guess we will see if the mods agree.....but i got this from a dear friend today and wanted to share it......discuss or just read and remember......and look twice every .......i mean EVERY damn time.

THE BIKER

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.
But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last
Sunday.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the
sidewalk.
But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant.
But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the
hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by.
But, you didn't see me, riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette
butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children. But, you didn't see
me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you, stare at my long hair.
But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of
Love.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves.
But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old ones to those that
had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos.
But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born and have their name
written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.
But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.
But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my
lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.
But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind
me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.
But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the
next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain.
But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car
to go on his date.

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.
But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.
But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.
But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family.
But, you didn't see me.

Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.
But, you d idn't see me.

They both have dirtbags on the back of them.

I was just joking. 

I have read this little poem before.  I get a little sick of the whining that motorcycle enthusiasts do.  They talk about safety, yet lobby states to have helmet laws removed.  They make little poems like this, but they don't pay attention to statistics.  Most motorcycle accidents are the result of rider error, not error on the part of other drivers.  Bikers are the most whiny, self righteous people on the roads.  They are worse than truckers.  No one forces these people to buy bikes.  They are inherently more dangerous than driving a car.  I don't feel sorry for them.  The jerks drive by my house at 3 in the morning on their ear deafening, mid life crisis, small penis mobiles and wake me up.  They deafen people in traffic, and use safety as an excuse for making their bikes that loud.  But yet again, they don't wear helmets.  The hell with them.

Status: offline 		I used to live in the Keys and my then boyfriend put a boat horn on the bike. It was great.  It would scare the bejeezes out of people but it worked like a charm.
If you ride it is not a question of IF but WHEN your bike goes down.

I also have to agree with the above statement that most of your bikers are boys with toys, doctors, lawyers, dentists etc.

You didn't see me sleeping peacefully or awake with a start or lay there for the rest of the night, trying to get back to sleep.

You didn't see me wondering what sort of thoughtless person would consider their desire to make as much as a small plane, right outside my house, more important than someone else's need for a good night of rest.

You didn't see me finally drag my ass out of bed, all bleary eyed and hoping I could make it through the day.

You didn't care that I was a school bus driver and that many young lives, possibly your own children's, depend on me being alert at all times.

You did see my big yellow bus and you knew that I'd be obliged to give way if you squeezed me out with your bike, so when you decided to use me as a way of gaining some small advantage on the road you didn't hesitate using your faster, more agile machine to take it.

You didn't see the street racer entering the freeway on the ramp to my right or realise he was thinking the same thing that you were, and gunning his engine to accomplish it.

You did hear me honk and wave a warning and you did take the time to salute me with your middle finger.

You didn't see me trying to calm a bus full of horrified children while calling for an ambulance and dealing with my own shock.

I wonder if you recognised me as I watched your life bleed out on the road, helpless to save you?

I wonder if a good night's sleep would have allowed me the extra margin of attention I needed to avert this disaster?

I live with that. You don't.

Status: offline 		We have an annual event around here called “Motorcycle Weekend”. The event literally fills the relatively small area where I live, “The Lakes Region” with motorcyclist from all over the country. It is truly a sight to behold.
 
I’ve been to the heart of it, Weirs Beach, a few times. I was there in my early twenties, when I got my first rt view of D/s; I mentioned it once on these boards.
 
It is a real rush, to hear a long line of motorcycles “fly” by you, especially when there is a bunch of Harleys in the group; “American thunder”, we call it around here.
 
I’ve seen accidents from the foolishness of both motorists and bikers.
 
I myself came close to leaving this place, twice, when riding on the back of a motorcycle with my ex-husband. Once when he tried to do a wheelie without telling me what he was going to do; I wasn’t holding on and almost fell off the back; quick reflexes.
 
The second time, he thought it would be a good idea to catch up to our group, by speeding down the breakdown lane. Too bad he wasn’t thinking there might be someone walking toward us. Thankfully, he managed to stop the bike, without causing injury to any of us, including the 20+ bystanders who would have been caught up in the mess.
 
Ummm… not sure why I felt a need to say that. I had actually forgotten about those two “close calls”.

Uhh  dont lump us all into one category.  I get woken up 3AM by morons with straight pipes too, it may make them feel better about their penis it wont help me sleep.

i want to say this. Thank You Seeks for posting this.

as someone who grew up on bikes and having respect for two wheeled drivers,4 wheel drivers and 18 wheel drivers.

Worse than truckers? I beg to differ with you, on your opinion of truckers. My husband, and I, are owner operators. We are on the road with our truck, coast to coast.
It's a great way to see the country, but also a great way to get killed...or kill. This can happen when someone in a car...yes, car, not motorcycle...decides that they can just cut right in front of me, and I can stop on a dime...with 40,000 lbs. of cargo in the trail, never mind the weight of my truck.
As for the noise, what of the cars that need to BUMP BUMP BUMP passed my window at 3 in the morning? They wake me after I have been on the road for 2 weeks, and am trying to get some peaceful sleep.

Status: offline 		It seems to me, the irresponsible do not limit their means of transportation; from the biggest means, to something as simple as walking.
 
These things are only meant to keep us more alert; it doesn’t matter how they ride in, if you aren’t looking out for them; they are liable to take you out with them.
 
Also, to be honest, if it weren’t for the fact that I am charmed; my own foolish, absent mindedness, would have not only done me in, but many others as well.
 
My last owner drives an eighteen wheeler. Those were fun times. Roll on!!!

Status: offline 		Amen sistah!! I love the ones that whine about trucks. Let all the trucks stop rolling for a week and see the shelves empty in the stores. They never seem to understand that every thing they eat, wear or wipe their butts with was delivered by a truck.

Status: offline 		We have some scary-ass drivers in my neck of the woods- people well into their seventies, at best guess, who drive hunched forward so their chins are practically touching the steering wheel, and still doing 10-15 mph under the speed limit because they can't see well... i followed one to a gas station once, and when she got out of the car her eyes were almost milk-white with cataracts.

i'm not a fan of taking away liberties from people, but i can't help but picture them standing beside a wrecked car, sobbing and saying "I never even saw him". I don't want to be the one under the white sheet when that happens.

So, i propose a new special-interest group- RABAM*, pronounced ray-bam. Obviously, we would need a disclaimer that we are not associated with the Ray-Ban eyewear group. Our mission would be to make roadside vision tests as much a part of American driving culture as roadside sobriety tests have become (thanks to MADD).
