do dom's ever want to know your last name or where you live? or do they even care? are all dom's really male chauvinistic pigs in sheep's clothing?

We want to know these things, but we want to know them once someone is under serious consideration --usually during the initial face-to-face meeting, if we have decided that they have a good chance of working out with our household.

As far as male dominants are concerned, I would hazard that there are as wide a variety of male dominants who do as don't, and as many who are chauvanistic in their behaviors as there are those who are gynophiles. The only thing "all doms" share in common is their dominant role. Other than that, everything else (just like any other "box" we put things in) is completely dependent on the individual.

I, for one, don't wear wool.

Seriously; I will want to know a Sub's last name when I meet her in person. Until then I don't really care because it's not serious for me. I can talk or e-mail or chat with someone using their 'handle' just as easy as their name. If I DO set out to meet a Sub then I will want a picture of her (vanilla is okay) and I'll expect to learn her real name etc when we meet. I will also return the same and tell her more private information than I will dilvulge here.

Most true Doms are NOT a 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. They are real, caring and considerate people who enjoy being who they are. They care deeply for their Subs and only want what's best for both of them. Unfortunately for all of us there are some people out there who aren't caring or considerate and only want something for themselves. I don't know how to tell you to avoid these people, (I'm sure there are LOTS of threads on that subject) but I can say that good common sense and a large cup of caution will go a long ways.

FLButtSlut -> RE: my addition to profile (10/12/2005 7:46:49 PM)

I would say that if you are meeting someone in person, contemplating a relationship and after you meet and decide you want to meet again, some more personal information such as full name should be in order. I suggest you get theirs, too. If they don't want to give it, ask why.

Likewise, prior to meeting in person, anyone who asks for too much personal information I would be very wary about.

Lots of REAL freaks out there, and not in the "kinky" way that we are searching for.

Sensualips -> RE: my addition to profile (10/12/2005 7:47:17 PM)

A person immediately wanting to know my last name and where I lived is something I would actually consider unnecessary. There is some information I am unwilling to give out randomly. All in due time.

Well you know EVENTUALLY...it's nice to have a last name when you're looking for those monogrammed towles for the wedding.

The answers to these questions are no different than they would be in a vanilla situation.

Eventually, it's a nice thing. After all, after living together a few months, one might want to introduce one's partner to folks who really shouldn't be on a first name basis from the start... like your plumber

Yes and no. You figure out which answer goes with which question.
Guessing, this being your first post, you had a bad experience? Hang around for a few more weeks and read. You'll get a better feel for Doms. My guess is though, we won't hear much more from you but hopefully you aren't gone yet and this was all tongue in cheek.

Now all we need are the definitions of 'true' submissive, slave, switch........................

Padriag -> RE: my addition to profile (10/13/2005 6:33:39 AM)

Yes we do. And not only do we want to know your real name, where you live, your phone number, but some of us also want to know what your hobbies are, music you enjoy, can you play any musical instruments, can you dance, what sorts of things do you like doing for fun (other than sex and fetishes), what was the last book you read, favorite movie, who do you admire most, are you creative, do you enjoy poetry and if so any favorites, ever been in a cave and are you claustrophobic, etc. Those are all questions I typically ask when getting to know a submissive.

imtempting -> RE: my addition to profile (10/13/2005 6:38:27 AM)

No no no not a good idea to do that on the net. Theres alot of information out there and knowing where to look you could give away alot more information thenn intended.

Calbammer -> RE: my addition to profile (10/14/2005 2:36:21 AM)

My sub, caliblonde, tends to crack me up at times with questions like this; "do dom's ever want to know your last name or where you live? or do they even care? are all dom's really male chauvinistic pigs in sheep's clothing?" My sub does not yet realized how much effort I or other Dom/mes put into things when dealing with our subs or slaves, such as observing our sub's actions and emotions when they say or do things, listening to how they say something or what it is that they state, analyzing what they had to say and why they said it, etc... The reason for this is because she is very new and still learning much about the lifestyle and how those of us who are involved within it, interact with each other. I am very lucky that my sub is a very quick and astute learner, which helps keeps me on my toes to stay ahead of her at times. [:D] Yet, like most newbie subs that I have encountered, she has a lot to learn about the lifestyle, even more about me as much as I do of her and what it is that she wants and where it is that she wants to go, within the lifestyle. I plan to be more than ready for the task when her questions get far tougher than this short discourse, beacause I love the challenge my beautiful brat, presents me at times.

Does he know her last name?

ChereeAmoor -> RE: my addition to profile (10/14/2005 5:58:16 AM)

I get a lot of questions about where I live, although it is in my profile. So I would say yes, doms DO want to know things, but some are incapable of reading. [8D]

Not only are there Doms who don't want to know your last name or where you live, there are "doms" who don't want you to know where THEY live or work, or what their last name, or their home phone number. Since i'm always willing to share both (at a face to face meeting), i admit i'm immediately suspicious about the Dom and his marital status when this happens. With the way things are today, it always surprises me when anyone is willing to be physically intimate with someone without at least the basic information, and a whole lot more for that matter.

i guess it's a case of YMMV, but i prefer to know my partner some before anything else happens.

cheers
jimini

It depend for me. Physical intimacy is not a big deal for me, meaning I can be physically intimate with someone without a lot of background or build up. If I want to get emotionally involved with someone or have a relationship with them that lasts beyond a night, then yes I want to know some of their basic stats.

But I've been to swingers parties, and I play with new people I just met all the time. I'm ok with not having a stat sheet for them.

The guy that changes the oil in your car is probably an ex-con, and he know both your last name and where you live. (No offense to oil change guys intended.)

All men are actually male chauvanist pigs ... and that's probably a good thing. (No offense to pigs intended.) [;)][;)]
