Why do people not say what locality or region the come from in their profiles! Ontario is a BIG place as is Alberta etc!! You wont be giving away any major secrets to say GTA or Niagara or a similiar hint! Not much point sending an Email to someone 2000 miles away!

You will find that a lot of people on here don't want to be contacted by anyone outside their current relationship. They are on here for the chat and the 'boards' and that's all.

I'm not sure I was ever asked where, specifically, I was from when I joined up... Maybe that's why others don't have a locale.

If your truly that curious you could always send a note or email asking them where they are located. Most will not take offense to that. However, that being said that does not mean that everyone you ask will feel comfy telling you a more specific location. Nika{Phoenix}

I believe in more info, less wasted time. Unless you live in a small town there is little risk to saying what city you live in. One friend who does live in a small town uses the name of the next town over...still a geographic reality as far as possibly meeting, with a safety margin. State the area that you live and you won't have to wade through emails from person’s too far way and they won't have to waste their time trying to meet someone too far away. If you are not looking to meet someone simply state it very clearly, probably more than once. Then if someone emails you looking to hook up, you already know they can't read or assimilate info....delete. More info = less bother?

LAMAO.how would u like to be ME??...i live on a tiny rock, small, all christian uptight locals, 99 percent of whom i am related to and as far as i know im the only one here with my thoughts or kink. ALSO...........................I may never find someone, unless they have vacation time, and then that would just be too fast for me..sighs. also im an island girl who has NEVER been on a plane before!!!!.............lol.me scardie cat So, all of You that are so far away, i think that really makes me a masochist.for REAL. That is one of my pet peeves as well, at least with profiles that say something along the lines of "Must be local" or "If you aren't local, don't reply." Too often those local-only profiles have the vaguest location...or better yet, a made-up location. I live in a town of 6000 or so, and don't list the name of the town in my profile, but I do narrow it down to 50 miles or so. Well, actually I just did it this minute, because I realized it just said "Ontario." [:)] Tasha

If you feel that there is a need to discloes this information - ie "I am not willing to talk to you if you are x kilometers (miles for those not using metric) outside of [where I live] <insert location here>" there is no need to ask someone else to disclose this information to you, until some sort of relationship is established. Save some time and tell them in your profile or contact e-mail (pm here dare I show my age), maybe you do already. Just because you do (assuming) doesn't mean anyone else will and they may very well have their reasons (hopefully well intentioned ;-). Not everyone here is trustworthy and there is zero reason for someone to give up this information to someone they don't know or worse someone that could potentially read their profile without good intentions in mind. Accusations usually go farther than defense. D (owner of j)

Many people feel that they are protecting themselves from potential predators by not pinpointing their exact location. If interest in someone becomes less casual, they're usually more forthcoming with personal information of that nature. Also, I know that some people do not disclose exact locations in order to be able to disclose other details. People need to keep some of their mystery, I guess. Seriously, though, if you give away to much you can be a potential target for some of the less honorable people on the web.

As a person who lives in a small city that acts like a small town, I understand a person wanted to be careful with their location. I do not get the ones who live in major metropolitan areas. I live in Missouri with two major cities. I am surprised how many profiles leave the city blank or something they thnk is clever like "over the rainbow, Kansas". It is funny when they put in their profiles local only. I think it is best not to pusue these types. No picture and no way too guess what certain mile radious they might be from, I tend to believe that they are not open to pursuing anything real time. Let them go at their own pace.
