Just curious. Have a friend who wears one. She actually loves the velvet feel of it.

I love a coset because it accent the sub/slave the female forum. I have talk with those who love wearing them and they love it because it feels like being bound up. The corset also pushes up the breast makeing them more tasty looking. [8D]

Hello,

I bought a corset for one of my submissives, and to wear it she appeared as an angel. It was custom fitted, partial bosom, and silk.

What a corset does, however, is severely restrict the person's ability to breathe, as well as their general movement. If she and I walked the length of a city block with her wearing it, she would be forced to sit down and catch her breath or she would faint.

Additionally, when it came time to, ummm *Dominant blush* fool around, it did rather seriously curtail the acrobatics she was able to, umm, perform.

Being the Dominant One that I am, I was more than happy to do the driving.

Why Berlin Likes Corsets
By- Berlin
(feel like I'm doing one of he-who-must-not-be-named's writing assignments)

I like corsetry for the aesthetic of it. I identify corsets with being feminine. I feel that they enhance my femininity. I have always loved the look of a corseted woman and even in childhood felt that an hourglass figure was one to be envied and sought after.
As for corsetry and BDSM and Me- They compliment one another but are not intertwined to the point that I need them all. I can lace myself up, I can reduce my own waist, but the D/s factor is quite attractive. Being laced up, having my waist reduced by someone else... That is where the D/s comes in, but it is not my intent with the corsetry. Just an added dimension.

I adore corsets on both My male and female slaves.
I enjoy watching them move about in their restrictivness
and the power they hold in confining the body to their
shape and lets face it they are just siimply sexie as hell
not to mention the feel of the leather ones I prefer to
enjoy on My posessions. I dont like the feel of them
on Me personally but they sure make My body stand
out not to mention My hugh kanolies!! LOL! Like a
foot in front of Me [8D]

dmc68 -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 1:27:46 PM)

i have seen some pics of them on girls that looked really hot, if they were rubber or latex. but they sure did look painful.

I heard it on some show that was cancelled a year or so ago. Pity...they had good writers.

Wearing a corset as a full time "tightlacer" (in order to get waist circumference down) should NEVER be painful. Now, I don't know much about discipline corsets and occasional corset wear beyone my own experience.... Just wanted to put that in there. If it's PAINFUL it is not SAFE. You are messing with internal organs and the lower (floating) ribs if the person is female.

I have several, love the look and feel, like the bondage aspect and how feminine and sexy they make me feel.

My faux leather pvc corset is also practical when playing, my play partner loves sting, I don't, it took only one scene of getting the worst sting toy clipping my tits and torso before I decided to stay in corset to play. I have also bought arm bracers to protect my arms from the tails.

I didn't mind thuddy floggers, one for you, one for me, but need the corset between me & sting.

LadyBeckett -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 2:16:03 PM)

Oh I love corsets, and bustiers, silk, lightly boned, lace, with silk ribbon. Leather is also very very nice. Like Topcat, I favor leather chaps from time to time, and I will wear a bustier with them.

I've not had the experience of my movement, nor my breathing being restricted by wearing a corset. [;)] But then...I move however I want to.

kiki blue -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 3:19:00 PM)

I love corsets:) A friend of mine who is similar in size and shape to me lends me hers sometimes. They just feel so sexy! Having my breasts up on display like that is a lot of fun. I've worn them at comfortable but tight levels, and tighter slightly uncomfortable levels, but they're still fun.

The only problem with the tighter option is, when sitting down (especially in a chair that leans back a little) it seems my breasts try to chock me lol.

PassionateNights -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 3:58:09 PM)

i just had a long discussion with a friend this last weekend, we attended a Rennaisance faire with a group of friends (all in costume) She had on a corset and it definitly effected her. It was obvious that her posture was pretty much straight up and down, her breathing was limited (no deep breaths) - her breasts (which are already large - became.....HEY WORLD CHECK THESE OUT). her ability to eat was limited (she got full very fast). Being a submissive....i'm thinking wow..that looks like fun...except i don;t really want to lok like a woman.
Bottom line, i can definitly see the use of them as a bondage device. Particularly the putting of one on. Her husband took three tries of sequential tightening, to get it all on. They are very cool

Hi Berlin,

Since you seem to have the most experience with this, maybe you can answer some questions. Is it better to get them fitted in person than to buy online? And, even though they shouldn't be *painful*, do you find that you experience the shortness of breath described? I don't have experience with *real* corsets (the kind you can tighten), but they are something Master loves the look of and I am looking into getting for Christmas as a surprise, and was hoping for some more info?

Thanks :)

EStrict-
I would only recommend buying them on line if the company you're looking at has an extremely detailed questionaire regarding your different measurements. Yes, you do experience the shortness of breath, but please remember- IF IT'S PAINFUL IT'S TOO TIGHT. Your breathing pattern has to be adjusted, as your innards are moved around. You should not feel as if you're going to faint. TOO TIGHT. Also, as a woman with man-made boobs, I find that my breathing has been restricted even more since my purchase of aforementioned man-made boobs. Just a sidenote for the busty ladies. If you are looking into corsets for body modification, I recommend starting out with an underbust corset or even a waist cincher. This allows you to wear a bra and most normal clothing. I could recommend many reputable corsetiers and informative websites. Dark Garden Corsetry is VERY expensive and VERY beautiful. I encourage you to visit www.waspcreations.com and www.staylace.com. Both are very informative and I plan on ordering my next corset from wasp creations. Before you dive head-first into corseting yourself, I would buy an off-the rack corset and try that for a while. It is a HUGE monetary and time investment.
If you have any more questions, just let me know...

SherriA -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 4:54:10 PM)

I don't do corsets. I look like a caricature in them. Blech. And they're too much work to get on and off when I want to play.

MizSuz -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 5:12:18 PM)

Good advice from Berlin! All of it.

I would add a couple of things.

Expect some 'break in' time, especially if it's heavily boned and/or leather. I've bruised ribs on brand new corsets that I 'broke in' during their first use on all nighters. A few hours here and there until they are broken in will make a difference.

Be aware not only of whether you can breath, but pay attention to the amount of acid reflux you may be experiencing (heartburn). If you're experiencing heartburn, even if only when you bend over, then it's probably too tight (and you may be setting yourself up for a hiatal hernia).

There's an art to lacing a corset that I really enjoy. Watching as her body slowly molds to my ministration, life could be worse.

A corset that fits is a kind of heavan all it's own. Hard to describe.

MzBerlin -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/20/2004 5:24:00 PM)

Thankyou, MizSuz. I hope that those interested in "hard-core" corsetry will go out and find the information. It is such a broad and highly controversial topic. I totally forgot about the reflux. (I get excited talking about corsets and am known to miss important points.)

RazorDreams -> RE: why do ya like corsets? (7/21/2004 2:41:56 AM)

As an added note to MzBerlin's post, you can also go to http://versatilefashions.com/ they do great work as well. IMHO it is best to get custom fitted though if is possible to do so. Especially if you are a new to Corsettry.

A note to new corset wearers, start off wearing them for short periods of time until you get used to it, something like 4 hours, then increase the length of time gradually. If you have serious trouble breathing, loosen the corset a little. Learning to breath in a corset takes time, since in effect you are training your body to breath in a different manner than you are used to. Eventually, as you get accustom to wearing them and your corsets become broken in, you can do just about anything in them, with minor limitations on your movement. On a safety note for anyone who wears them for long periods of (days at) a time, please remember you have to take care of your back and stomach muscle. Confinement without exercise can atrophy the muscles.

R.
