...or solar paneling and free electrical for every house in the union. And hey, maybe with an electric car you can skip paying at the pump too.

Status quo = death.

Level -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:26:47 PM)

How far would it go in supplying some form of universal health care?

Now, if I personally had 3T, I'd buy the Dallas Cowboys, some strippers, and a penthouse suite in Manhattan. And an electric Corvette, maybe.

FullCircle -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:33:51 PM)

If I had $3T I'd spend it on.......

A solution for Global warming such as painting the ice silver so that the sun reflects off of it or putting satellites in orbit which act as sun screen for our ice. Thus we will not all drown when sea levels rise 20 feet.

Do we really need a missile defence system haven’t we learned by now that anyone can smuggle a bomb in via shipping containers? Can’t we asses the risks that face us in a more realistic way?

You American’s have some of the most intelligent people on earth it’s just a shame they are all focusing on the wrong problems.

Level -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:40:57 PM)

FC, I would disagree that they "all" are looking in the wrong direction. There are a lot of brilliant people working on all sorts of solutions to the world's ills over here.

It's similar to how the nutty Muslims garner all the press over the peaceful ones, well, our nuts get more press than the good guys, at times.

Vendaval -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:43:24 PM)

Can we get a refund?

christine1 -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:44:40 PM)

would that be environmentally safe silver paint?  there is no such thing as safe paint, not even the water based kinds.  if the polar bears licked it would it be safe?  what about seals?  what about if it melted with the ice into the ocean water?  who's going to fund this?  oh yes, i'm sure we Americans are going to fund it. [8|]  was that really a serious comment?

True Mr Level My problem is I've been watching Mr Gore again.

I never really liked him when I didn't know him.[:D] Now I know him I think sadly he would have done a lot of good. Probably would have killed your economy mind you

I still think you all say yeahaa and lasso things.[8|]

I can be so ignorant at times.

What was the last thing you funded in line with your GDP that didn't involve guns or violence? I hate to preach but I am an amateur vicar.

Also I saw this computer generated polar bear drown on Mr Gores 'An inconvenient truth' and it broke my heart.[8|]

christine1 -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 1:54:41 PM)

last thing i funded was first semester tuition for my son.

yes those polar bears were cute huh?  i'm no fan of Al, and i'm the first to call him a stuffed shirt salesman... still, i'm scratching my head about painting the ice caps silver...

if i'm being criticized because i haven't funded something global dude or dudette, whichever you might be...kiss my white ass.  if taking care of my own before others is a bad thing in the global market...eat my dust and try not to choke too hard.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:08:06 PM)

In many other countries they don't even pay for education straight out of pocket like that - it's based on aptitude and state funded (through taxes, of course, but also spread out among the populace).

FullCircle -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:08:09 PM)

Sorry but you gave the impression the USA always foots the bill for things?

Laughable.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:13:55 PM)

We do. We pay for destruction everywhere. Everyone loves us for that!

[:D]

The U.S.A. - coming soon to fuck up your shit.

youngsubgeoff -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:15:57 PM)

3 trillion gave me one of the worst memories of my life. GW does not deserve life, much less to be president. He is a fucking pig.

i'm sorry i gave that impression, i just tire of people complaining about the US when they do fund so many things and give so much foreign aid.  that wasn't my point in my original comment though.

FullCircle -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:27:56 PM)

The US people can be very generous but the US Government is falling way short in this respect. It's a mistake to look at the total aid given rather than how much giving the aid hurts your own economy. Besides debt for Africa on one hand vs aid on the other and you quickly realise something is a miss with the figures.

kittinSol -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:33:37 PM)

"Foreign aid" has of aid nothing but the name. It's not totally disinterested, and rich countries seem to contribute "foreign aid" when in fact they're doing little else than protect their economic turf. Perversely, the concept of "foreign aid" is now being used as a means to convince people that it's a generous outpour of cash towards unworthy good for nothing countries. A beauty of a double-whammy.

Level -> RE: $3 trillion dollars can buy you a war... (4/26/2008 2:36:06 PM)

I have a feeling we'd almost have to bankrupt ourselves before others saw us as giving "enough". [8|]

But, as FC said, our citizens are quite charitable, giving the most to charity in the world, I think?

And haven't we forgiven some debt? I think Bono talked us into it? [:D]
