I've always found pools and the water comforting as it cradles my body and carresses my skin, I could float for hours an hours.
I think it's called hydrophilia. I've always wanted to have sex or fondle a woman whilst underwater using SCUBA gear. Unfortunately, there's no way to make SCUBA bondage safe.
A good alternative to your situation is to use those inflatable casts and a flotation belt for your hips. A pony bottle filled with 36% nitrox w/ a octo reg on a tech length hose would be prudent to have nearby for any water related bondage. I like your floating backboard idea. I have seen rescue baskets that have foam floats on the edges for that very need that accomodate a backboard.
