*NOTE: Not a rant or an issue with either one, just curious without stealong a thread---do you ( the general populis out there) think Tributes are the same thing as paying a Pro?* *I for one do not--as I even ask for what can be considered a tribute--a white rose (it helps Me pick someone out of a crowd at a first meet, then I like it from there on out)--*

Depends on what the tribute is [8D] A white rose? No. Money, or jewelry? Yup. Having said that, I don't see anything wrong with any of it, as long as it's all upfront.

Nope I don't see giving tribute as paying a pro. Some may say it's semantics and there are probably cases where that is true, but the concept of giving tribute IMO is not the same thing as seeking out then paying a professional.

Depends on if you are asking for something up front, I guess! Is paying for the coffee a tribute? Is bringing me flowers that I didn't ask for, but because he thought I should have flowers a tribute? Some guys really DO get off on having to bring something to the table (speaking figuratively). Telling him to say, go to the sex shop and buy a buttplug and hand it to you in the store's bag at the meeting.... it gets pretty semantical after awhile.

When they pay the fee I ask for, it is paying me. When they bring me a new corset, or flogger, completely out of the blue, as an unexpected gift, it's a tribute.

So here we go again.....paying for a pro, I think it's all well and good. A worker is worth their wages. It is too bad for subs that it is so one sided. I am thinking of turning into a pro-sub and charging for honor to whip me and make me clean your house.....Subs...are you with me????? Talk about TPE!!!!!! LOL.

how is it not the same? you have to pay for in cash what your giving as tribute to.. even though your not actually giving cash. but the fact its cash out of your pocket its still the same thing.

Imo, as Bobby Dylan says, everybody has "to serve somebody". What difference does it make what the "coinage" is ? In some cases, the relationship may be more clear than in others, and, perhaps that's a blessing. Many, if not all, marriages are arrangements of an exchange of services or more tangible currency, often unconscious, but, nevertheless, operative. Who's to judge ? Not me, thanks.

Some pro's I have noticed demand tributes and will have list of expected tributes on their sites, most running in the $200 and up price ragnge--- this to me is payment for services. A gift tribute which has not been asked for is a totally different story ...really not much different that a dom asking a sub that he meets on a first meet if they want to go out for supper in which he pays for or if he offers to pay for coffee it does not equate to payment for an expected service it is offered as a friendly guesture

Exactly. The difference is the requirement. If I choose to bring a gift for someone, that is my business. If someone requires anything of value before we meet or play, that is payment.
