There does seem to be a pattern developing... http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F04E6DA133DF93AA25751C0A9629C8B63 "Decision Not to Indict Officer May Seem Surprising, but Follows Pattern " February 19, 2004 When a Brooklyn grand jury on Tuesday declined to indict a police officer who testified that he accidentally shot and killed an unarmed 19-year-old on a housing project rooftop last month, it was following a pattern in such cases set not just in New York City, but around the nation, according to lawyers, academics and experts on police shootings http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/nation/specials/aroundthenation/nypd/ "Amadou Diallo Case" In February 1999, four New York City policemen searching for a rape suspect knocked on Amadou Diallo's door to question him. When he came to the door he reached inside his jacket, at which point the officers shot at him 41 times, hitting him with 19 bullets. The object Diallo was reaching for turned out to be his wallet. The police were acquitted. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/03/25/national/main176270.shtml No Trial For Dorismond Shooter July 27, 2000 A New York grand jury declined to indict the police officer who shot unarmed Patrick Dorismond, the Manhattan district attorney announced Thursday. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/13/national/main3493746.shtml NYC Cops Kill Teen Holding Brush-Not Gun NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2007 In the 911 call, while the emergency operator took down the address in Bedford-Stuyvesant, a male voice was overheard in the background, saying, “I got a gun and I'm gonna shoot you,” and, “I've got a (expletive) gun!” When a 911 operator called back about five minutes later to ask Owens for a description of her son and the weapon, she told the operator, “He does not have a firearm,” a second transcript shows. Coppin's family denounced the police department for quickly concluding that the officers were justified in their response. “Nobody but Houdini himself could have decided that in 24 hours,” family attorney Paul Wooten said. I'm sorry, but if these cases all were white people getting shot they would be Hell to pay. I just googled "NYC cops kill unarmed man"...I didn't add ethnicity to the "google." It just so happens, I'm sure by total coincidence that every person "justifiably killed" by the police happened to be black. Shame on Al Sharpton?...Yeah, the guy is kind of a turd...What about the NYC police? What about the whole process? No culpability whatsoever....How many times do you have to shoot an unarmed man? Mind boggling shit. If the situation were reversed and the poh-lice were knocking off whitey and nothing was ever done...What do you think would happen? I'm guessing nothing would move till the situation was resolved. We should be outraged....Cities across this Country regularly pay millions out in settlements and law suits yet rarely is anything done to these "outlaw cops." Shit, Are cities are going broke but "we" allow this type of messed up shit to continue unchecked. Remember how pissed off ya all were when the OJ Simpson verdict was handed down? I can only imagine that many Black Americans feel that same severe dissappoinment for a corrupted system...Why not close down a city that seemingly routinely guns down your fellow unarmed Americans?
