Not at all, though I might wonder about the quanitities you had to buy in. Reminds me of what I wanted to get for the spider web fantasies...

1,200 feet.

You could do a bitchin' spider web with that much rope.

Personally I'd advise against Cotton rope. It will stretch when you tie knots in it and shrink when it gets wet. Meaning, if your submissive sweats the knots will tighten even more as will the ropes. That could lead to knots having to be cut out or the binding tightening to the point of cutting air / blood flow.

Yeah...I have a bondage group I started here in NC:

After seeing that ball of rope, I'm thinking that might be a theme for one of our monthly meetings. Can we break the world record? Be fun to try - maybe with 2 or 3 people wrapped up in the same ball.

Cotton rope is okay, but there is a new rope out that I will totally have to try and find to share with you all. It's tensile strength is unreal, its mainly being used in boating applications at the moment, but if I remember right, the chart said a ΒΌ" thick rope will support 5900 pounds. It was unreal the strength of this stuff.

Check this out.

BootBlackBlast -> RE: is it bad that this temped me? (5/11/2008 9:30:23 PM)

We used to use Spectra in our bail out bags with the fire dept. We'd have a 50 foot length of rope with locking carabiners on both ends and a figure 8 on one of the ends. We'd use them in case we got stuck on an upper floor and couldn't get out of a building. I only got stuck in that situation once and was able to use my halligan tool to brace in the frame of the window, clipped my biner to it and rappeled to the ground. Scariest day of my life at the time. 9/11 trumped that but I think that just trumps everything in modern history.

Coincidentally varieties of Spectra are very popular among sport kite and kite surfing enthusiasts.
