Status: offline 		i am new to the idea of tights and leotards, and thx to one person on this forum, he has helped me out greatly, but id still love to read your opinions and facts about it.

1) What is better nylons tights, or cotton/ribbed tights? 2) footless, footed or convertable tights?

as for leotards, i had NO CLUE about them (just basic knowledge) till now. I was going to opt for a bodysuit, but i was told to go with a leotard. Ive seen many of them, but not sure what to get.

1) is the tank top or the short sleves type better? 2) are the zipper type leoyards worth it? 3) what material is the best? 4) if you are a male and wear them, do they offer enough support or room down there? 5) are they comfy?

any other info, personal or general, would be great! Thanks a lot!

Better for what? Cotton/ribbed tights only look good fashion wise on girls under 10.

1. Nylon are thinnner than the Cotton/Ribbed Tights, so the Cottone might last a litttle longer....but I never tested them. It is what you prefer on your legs. Which feel better or look better. It is your choice...but I do prefer the look and feel of Nylon.

2 . For the Leotard, try the Basic Black, Short Sleeve, with Ballet Cut legs. You can't go wrong. The Zippered Leotard is usually on the Trutle Neck...in the back. I don't remember seeing any with a Ziper in the front, but that doesn't mean there isn't any other there. Again the Nylon wins me over, and are so easy to get. As for ROOM DOWN THERE....I DON"T WANT THE ROOM ! The Tighter, the BETTER ! This way I don't have to worry about losing it..it is a little small...LMCLAO

As for the Ribbed Tights, well I did have some, but that was back in 1972, which I also had a matching Body Suit. Now I found the Leotards hold up better, NO SNAPS to break, or to pull off the material. Now if you do want some (As I am thinging of getting some myself..I seen them on the internet at a lot of places)...how it looks depends on YOU! If you like the look, then go for it...if your embarassed at what other might think, then don't. It is totally up to you, and you alone.

As for me, I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS....I will wear anything..at times, just to get THEM TALKING ! I

've worn Spandex Bike Shorts, or Spandex Leggins after work, just to STIR the FASHION POLICE up...and have been wearing MARY JANES, to, at and from WORK ! I LOVE IT ! They tried to stop me, but they fall into the COMPANY's guidelines....so the HECK WITH THEM.

Status: offline 		Nylon tights are silky and smooth, fun to pet, and don't leave as many imprints on your skin. They trap heat fairly well, but not as much as cotton tights. Where I live, cotton tights can get to be oppressive and overwhelming.

My favorite nylons aren't tights, but are thigh or knee highs. I don't like the ones with that sticky plastic ring at the top, so if I find that I need it I will use a garter belt any day. I get hot easily, and tights are difficult to get all the way up in a hurry and awkward in bathroom stalls, so individual stockings are a much more practical solution for me. Of course, there are access differences between full tights and seperate stockings too.

If I'm going to go with cotton, it is usually in knee or over-the-knee socks, not full on tights.

Footless or footed depends on your goal. Obviously footed are great for sliding across floors. Footless allow your feet to get more of a grip. Footed tights allow your feet to fit better into snug shoes and do not give the material as much oppurtunity for bunching or slippage as regular socks would.

Now, for wearing with a leotard, nylon tights can also be better than the cotton ones for their lines. The seam lines don't stand out so much.


I like bodysuits for day to day wear, but for a lot of movement I will go with leotards. A bit of lycra in the material mix will make it soft and stretchy and flexible. I don't like the zipper ones, as the zippers can get scratchy or the ends will flip out and poke me or the zipper breaks or or or.

I imagine how everything is will depend somewhat on the sizes that you get, but keep in mind that tights and leotards are meant to be snug and form-fitting. Moreso than briefs, so if you find briefs uncomfortable, you will most likely find this combo so.

Another thing. When putting on tights (especially nylon ones), make sure that their are no rips or snags in your nails, and use the PADS of your fingers, not the tips. Even with manicured nails you can catch an edge or a corner and send a run trekking along. I recommend getting a few cheapy ones to practice on before going for the real thing.

so you do wear bodysuits and leotards? what would u say u wear more? whats best for everyday use? As for the zipper ones, they look really neat! i cant see how they'd be annoying!

so it seems cotton tights suck? i see them A LOT in fetish vids, and it seems like a popular thing, but according to a few people, they arent.

any opinion on convertable tights?

Status: offline 		well, i wore tights! givin, they werent my size (they were a size b, and im 5'11/140lbs and a size D) so they fet a little differently. The top of the tights werent as tight as the pantyhose I got though. I did like how the tights were thicker and easier to get on. Also, with pantyhose, they dont keep you as warm, as i can sometimes feel the air hitting my legs. with tights, its like wearing really tight pants.

I also tried ones with the ribbed legs, and disliked them, so im definatly sticking to the regular style tights. I orderd some tights and a leotard and they should be in by the next weekend!

I have pretty sensitive skin, and am very aware of sensations against my body. I guess I just notice the zippers too much. :)

Cotton tights don't suck per se. If I were going to be going out where it gets cold in the winter, I certainly might wear them. It is too hot here, though, and I prefer the feel of the nylon ones. The thing that people tend to dislike most about nylon ones is that they can snag and rip or tear easily.

An easy way of getting them on is also to bunch them up and then stick your foot into it. Pull them up slowly, letting go of more material as you need to do so. This creates less stress on the fabric, and helps to ensure an even lay.

I probably wear bodysuits more. Victoria's Secret makes a lovely microfiber one that feels like wearing clouds. Pricey, but yum.

I'm afraid I don't have any opinion on convertable tights, as I do not even know what they are. xD Sorry!

Status: offline 		Hi Haematopiesis. Convertable Tights have an opening "Under" the foot, that you can pull over your foot, making them Footless Tights.

Now for the Body Suit that is like wearing clouds. Do you have a picture or model numerb for that one? I would like to see it for myself, and then maybe suck up to get permission to buy it.

In my Spandex Long Sleeve Leotard, White Tights and Black Pointe SHoes...LOL, BalletBob

try checking out www.discountdance.com for discounted dancewear. they have all kinds of tights, leotards (yes, zippers in front), bodysuits, etc. they offer fitting guides as well. fabric choices depend upon what look and feel you wish. they offer tights and leotards in various fabrics. have a look and see what you think. the most common leotard type for dancers is camisole (spaghetti straps, no sleeves). tights depend upon whether you're wanting to have access to your toes/feet or not.

Status: offline 		Another good place is dannyswarehouse.com, although you have to watch it because it is an outlet store and sometimes the colors aren't axact.

As for convertable tights, I LOVE them. I always have, they make it so much easier.

I danced for many, many, many years and have tried just about everything as far as tights, leotards, skirts, dresses and everything else goes.
I have my favorite brands and styles on nearly everything, if you want me to list them I will be happy to.

im definatly looking for a place that sells discount leotards. i find I like them a lot. the one i got now is a size to small, really snug, but its not cutting of my circulation. It was short sleves so I cut the sleeves and made it into a tank top, so it looks more like a guys tanktop rather then a leotard. Id also like to find the zipper kind for a discount as well, as they are usualy $20.

the zippered tanks are a bit more than what you wish to pay, but do watch the sale pages, as they add items all the time, and they carry a very large selection always. this company is very reliable, ships in a day (i get things next day with ground shipping, but i'm near the company's warehouse), and they are friendly and helpful. hope this helps, although it's not from the post you were asking about.

sorry, i'm irish and a dancer, so i only know of specialty stores. stein's dancewear sells leotards and much more. it's in the new england area. perhaps a google search for non specialty stores might help you more than i can?

Status: offline 		just chiming in - my recommendation is thigh highs - which I love! I also like tights - nylon and not cottom ones (which are way too hot for the tropics - nylon ones are good for cold office buildings lol)
My all time favorites are HUE and Ellen Tracey -- though I absolutely love my HOTSOX tights and the way they feel as well. :)
