Status: offline 		Hello! I'm Marx, the angry limey from yesterday? So much to thank people for! Though some as good as told me - sotto voce - i would be swimming with the fishes for violating some unforseen code, several were wonderfully empathetic, warm and responsive. Furthermore, it's as well to remember, that despite the cumulative notoriety i acquired, i was never blindly abusive (no matter what some people have said). What bothers me though, is that some seem to mistake critique for judgement. There may be a slight cultural gap too? We Brits are fond of irony and sarcasm - evidently this is a foreign concept for some americans (not Frank Zappa, Mayo Thompson, Seinfeld, Frasier or the peerless Simpsons mind you!). I would be an odd sort of BDSM enthusiast if i were guilty of judging others surely? This however, was a constant accusation. I am a sub, believe it or not, and a sub who becomes as bashful and vulnerable as a newly-born kitten in the presence of a Domme! I seek to surrender, in the Reichian sense. A very special thank you to the moderators of this site, who never once censored me, rightly assuming that i would not descend into feral language or gormless vituperation. In addition, people like Topcat put a smile on my face, and made me ashamed of my impatience and exhibitionism; thank you Top Cat! There were many more too. I started the thread in a distinctly un-ironic frame of mind, but as the pious platitudes piled up, my native wit kicked in, and banished the blues! It was a spoilt-brat plaint - many said as much - but it's done with now. I feel like the child who has thrown a tantrum when the whole familiy are visiting, and now i am peering sheepishly round the door to see if it's alright to come out again! Love to all, even if they dissed me! Also, it would have been nice if some of those who felt duty-bound to patronise me, had at least displayed the grace and good taste to acknowledge my cognizance, and self-evident lexical facility! I aspire - hopeless aspiration this - to the effulgent obloquy of a Cioran, a Nietzsche or a Baudelaire. Church of Satan founder Anton La Vey, once memorably opined that he only regretted the times he was nice! I know what he means!

See below for a truly hysterical misrepresentation of my original intentions! It's brimming over with barely-veiled disdain! Clearly NO LOVE LOST between me and Chained Angel! OH THE TEMERITY OF THE MAN! TO DIVINE SOME FORM OF SUPPORT IN HER MISSIVE!

If you're going to quote him, at least have the decency to do it fully.

Now I am going to try to figure out how the hell you got the impression that I was sticking up for you or that I have any interest in helping you shoot down the people here.

I have done nothing to deserve such hostility from you! What's the matter? Afraid that expressing your own views will make you unpopular? I'll bet you were fun in High School! You're like the plucky geek, who through a combination of sheer persistence and Chutzpah, manages to ingratiate herself with the cool set! As a consequence, she embarks on a Stalinist purging of her address book, lest she fall foul of her peers! Oh, and don't tell me i'm picking on geeks! I am a bloody geek and i speak from experience! Why else do you think i'm sat here ruining my eyes? Actually, it's remiss of me not to have seen this coming to be honest! I took your response in precisely the manner you intended it; clearly this was not expressed transparently enough however! I certainly didn't take it as some form of approval, i'm not thick. I-KNOW-WHAT-YOU-MEANT! If nothing else, i amuse myself! In any case, as Zorg says to the reluctant publisher in Betty Blue, i didn't write it for you! I have no interest in shooting anyone down either: WHY DO I KEEP HEARING THAT HERE? Are we all so PC now that criticism has become contraband? I've certainly had to take a fair bit from some of the self-important dullards here, many of whom have real problems with spelling by the way! In additon, i have no great attachment to La Vey beyond that quote; his general views are repugnant to me as a socialist. And i did have the "decency" to quote him in full. The aforementioned remark is emblazoned on his tombstone - that's it, there isn't any more! Despite my general view of the man, i like that statement, because it is so militantly anti-guilt, in a world awash with religious platitudes! Finally, i don't need "commiseration" or "sticking up for" from you or anyone else here! What a spectacularly patronising assumption! Unlike you, i don't need the approbation of my peers before i make a statement! Thanks for taking the time to reply though! It irks me to apply the attitude, but you started it! Don't give me any more grief luv (sic: cockney spelling), i'm not that thick-skinned! Show me just a scintilla of the common courtesy you display to others here and don't treat me like some sort of pariah! If you insist on doing so however, it still doesn't matter, because as the great Tammy Wynette sang: "I wound easy, but i heal fast". Rather appropriate given the brief of this site don't you think? Why Tammy? That's easy, despite my predilection for high-falutin' phraseology, i'm actually white trash to the bone! Before i go, i just wanted to say that i have really worked on this reply, as something tells me you are worth the effort. Why? Well despite what appears to be a need for the approval of others online, you strike me as open-hearted, tough, intelligent and forthright. I respect your contributions enormously, and i greatly enjoyed your journal entries too. Hope to hear from you soon, but don't tear strips off me! I've had a skin-full of that! I fear however, that you will focus only on the parts of this letter you deem to be insulting, to the detriment of the rest of it!

Status: offline 		i think the reason everyone gets upset is because you make digs at people and catagorize people but when it's done to you you flip out. If you're going to critisize you should be able to take criticism. Just my humble opinion and nothing more. A suggestion would be to forget all this and in future posts try not to gouge out at people (Dommes, U.S. citizens, and Californians for example) and then maybe you won't get gouged back.

Nice of you to drop by! Believe it or not, i am the least judgemental person you will ever encounter! I maintain strongly, that we are all in the same boat! And i relish a good-natured dig i promise you; the wittier the better! Let's face it, as a submissive Englishman, you would be spoilt for choice when it comes to having a pop at me! It's ludicrous to accuse me of "flipping out" though, i'm just defending my corner as everyone here has a right to, and i hope i do it with a modicum of wit! And if we can't have good-natured banter, what are we left with? Look after yourself. Oh, and loved the De Niro quote! He's not wrong is he?

I'm a little puzzled. Are you telling me off? If so, why? I could not have been more polite in my response to you! Have i misinterpreted your statement? Please advise! It's just that it sounds disapproving ("ok, well i tried to help you get along better on these boards"). At the moment, i'm feeling really paranoid, like i cannot put a foot right! The online community here seem intent on misconstruing my every word! I am actually feeling very vulnerable right now; i'm some mother's son too!

Just made me picture you in a corner with cat's claws out. It's not that you're defending yourself but how you do it. Your version of defending yourself is actually to lash out and put down. i know you are frustrated and angry at your search situation and at how things are working out on the board for you and i was just trying to give you some advice on how to achieve better results.
When i made a suggestion in my previous post you said "look after yourself" which i took to mean "worry about yourself and butt out".

In England, it doesn't mean mind your own business, it's more like take care, see you soon etc. Also, i'm not angry anymore either; i'm worn-out, lonely and defeated though! I certainly don't harbour any illusions about getting a reply anymore!

In future, if you have something to say to me, at least have the guts to address me personally, instead of making snide remarks through someone else online! Where do you get the temerity to treat me like that? Also what do you mean, you're only "reading one side of it"? Shame on you! I gather you see yourself as some kind of King of the Hill here, but that doesn't mean a thing to me! And i'm sorry if my self-evident intelligence and reluctance to kow-tow is some sort of threat! Rest assured though, i'm just visiting! I feel about about as popular as Che at a meeting of Cuban Emigres here, thanks to people like you! It would have been preferable if you had afforded me the common courtesy of not leaping to conclusions before you have all the facts; you have come in half way through this, and appear to have ignored the remarks i have made entirely. It seems you don't want anything to contradict the burnished, adamantine sense of predjudice that you have developed towards me. You're like an artist, who singles out a sentence of (alleged) criticism, in an otherwise glowing review! The difference is, there wasn't a solitary word of ill-intent in my previous posts at all! It's not my fault if the phrase has a different meaning in the states! I'm not your enemy, but you seem intent on putting me down! I have gone out of my way to extend the olive branch to you! I doubt you're even worth this effort, but if you had a shred of decency, you would reply with something. And while i'm here, it wouldn't have killed you to offer some sort of concilatory remark as you were tearing strips off me; sugar the pill a little, so to speak. LOL thanks. i just try to be understanding and realize that there are usually reasons a person is acting/reacting they way that they are. i have to admit though that after a few times of trying to get through i will give up.

i somehow get the feeling that He isn't even reading your posts so no reason to get defensive here. After a time of seeing someone react in a way that is offensive many people here in the forum will just put someone on block.

Status: offline 		Normally it does mean the same thing but then it depends on the situation. If someone has been shown to be defensive and hostile in the past then it's usually meant and taken as "butt out". This is why i have made the suggestion to retract the claws so that hopefully in the future what you say will be taken as it was intended. In a medium like this we aren't seeing or hearing physical mannerisms, tone of voice, or attitude so we tend to look at past history of a persons behavior. It pays to be more considerate of others here. i have the utmost hope that you will watch the obvious insults so that your real point will come across and not the offensive behavior. We can't always avoid offending but we can make a concerted effort.
