Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright

But I am also inclined to agree with another person on this thread who suggested just watching "The Last Unicorn". That will cheer you up.

Maybe i am in the minority hear, but when i had my heart broken i always listened to upbeat music.  If my heart was broken i  wouldwant something to lift my spirts not sad songs to make me feel worse.  For me most pop songs from the 80's work.

OP Dude, if you haven't gotten over her in five months (and I'm thinking you haven't if this shit is still on your brain), maybe some counseling is in order.

I can't say much about music - since what soothes my pain might not work for you. I do suggest you stick out the "just friends" bit, though. If there is something about you she ultimately fears, she may become at ease. When I think about it, many a guy could have had me if they stuck around past my discomfort stage. You're proving yourself too - to be the proper one for her. That's not the right perspective. Just mine. I'm a new sub.

He Stopped Loving Her Today-George Jones

That one gets me in tears every time, even if I am sober!!!!  Also, might I suggest:

Anything, and I mean anything at all, by Stain'd (or is it Staind?)
The entire album, And Justice For All, from Metallica (they are coming to Green Country!  Woohoo!)
Pictures Of You, The Cure
Hate Me, Blue October
Everything FlamingRedHead suggested
The Chain, Fleetwood Mac

Apply with a generous dose of Jack Daniels, rinse, repeat

Heard it in a Love Song- Marshall Tucker Band
Freebird- Lynyrd Skynyrd
Am I Losing You?-Ronnie Milsap
Time for Me to Fly- REO Speedwagon
(Marie's the Name of) His Latest Flame-Elvis Presley
Operator- Jim Croce
The Lady is a Tramp- Frank Sinatra
Spiders and Snakes- Jim Stafford

I'd recommend Townes Van Zandt, but he may push you from depression to despair. One of only two country singers I dig.

angelicbitch -> RE: The Last Unicorn and broken hearts (9/5/2008 2:49:05 AM)

I know this is gonna sound odd... but when bad things happen like break ups and such... One of my favorite songs that makes me stop wallowing in stuff is Type O Negative's- too late for apologize. They have tons of cool songs... that are good for down moods. They did a cool version of Paranoid... And for some reason I can't think of any other titles lol .... Except I Don't Wanna Be Me....

Peace

Zechriel -> RE: The Last Unicorn and broken hearts (9/5/2008 4:05:19 AM)

Good evening,
My first Master told me to wait util he settled out his life and came back. I sat in my solarium day and night thru a snowy winter and rainy spring waiting. After 11 months I heard back from him but it was too late, Ia m with Daddy now. I passed my time listening to over and over and over and over again...
           Queen of the Damned Soundtrack
Disturbed-Stricken (It became my theme song during that time)
           Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack
I listened to them so much, I had to burn copies of the cd's cause they were wearing out. It passes, know that, but will always leave a tiny scar. Good luck and would love to hear from you if you need someone just to vent on. Misery loves company I always say.
Love,
Zechriel [sm=flowers.gif]

Better Off Without You
You are sultry, dirty, soft and hard
You are close to me and you’re so far
And I’m thinking of the time we spent together
Now I’ll bury this in my backyard
Sometimes I sit and wonder
But I’ll never dial your number ‘cause

I’m having fun looking out for number one
And I’m doing all the things I like to do
I’m having fun ‘cause I knew it all along
I’d be better off without you

You are guilty, pretty, high and low
You’re a place to stay and a time to go
And I’m searching through the things you left behind here
Now it’s time for me to let it go
Sometimes I sit and wonder
But I’ll never dial that number ‘cause

I’m having fun looking out for number one
And I’m doing all the things I like to do
I’m having fun ‘cause I knew it all along
I’d be better off without you

Late at night you pick up the telephone
Call me up and cry ‘cause you’re all alone I don’t care
Apologize for taking my cigarettes
But it’s time to feel all the side effects
Missing the life you had

Broken Heart Songs:

Can't you See? - Marshall Tucker Band
Won't you Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - B.J. Thomas
Who Knew? - Pink
What it Takes - Aerosmith

Angry, scorned, hurt woman songs:

My Happy Ending - Avril Lavigne
Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Miranda Lambert
Since You have been gone - Kelly Clarkson

These are songs I can relate to having a broken heart and being hurt.  The angry songs, I could easliy go on the treadmill and really walk off the frustrations.

Its a bit goofy maybe.. but for me its the soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar at full blast played a few times over.

I am sorry, I am sorry to ever read of anyone getting heart-wounded and I wish it didn't happen but I suppose it is just a part of life that has to be gone through. I hope that your hurt doesn't leave lasting marks, that you find a way to turn it around into something that makes you stronger.

I'm Dom but just had my heart broken - the famous "Just Friends" after a trial collar (My fuck up not hers! Maybe a mutal case of miscomunitaion and assumptions. Sub Frenzy??).

I'm sitting here listening to the Last Unicorn sound track and wallowing in the pain. I thought just for fun I would ask some of the subs if they have any suggestions for good broken heart songs so i can speed the healing? Since most of the broken heart posts I've seen have been sub posts I thought I might get some response. My music styles are country, Christian, folk, 60-90's rock, some heavy metal.

I also wanted to let you know that Dom's, at least many that I know, love deeply and also hurt deeply when it ends. (Granted some are total jerks who will use and abuse anyone who is unlucky enough to fall for them. [I've have seen meat market lifestyle parties also.])

So let me know what music heals the ravenged soul?

"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Yes!!  I love that song!

I like to put Mozart's Requiem on full blast, and sing a long at the top of my lungs.  Nothing like a 45-minute funeral piece to put things in perspective!  [:D]

BlueEyedSubinDE -> RE: The Last Unicorn and broken hearts (9/6/2008 9:50:22 AM)

I'm in the listen to upbeat music when I'm down camp...

For me, nothing beats Tubthumping by Chumbawamba

We'll be singing
When were winning
We'll be singing

Chorus
I get knocked down but I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
I get knocked down but I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
I get knocked down but I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
I get knocked down but I get up again
You're never going to keep me down

Kissing the night away
Kissing the night away

He drinks a whiskey drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times

Oh Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boy

CHORUS

Kissing the night away
Kissing the night away

He drinks a whiskey drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times

Gets me every time and saw me through many a sucky breakup. No one sings a sad song like Rod Stewart.
