The best beer? Well, that is simple, Kölsch, of course![:D]

Other than that, I do like Guiness (with a splash of black currant juice), and an occassional Weißbier (yeast-wheat beer), maybe mixed with banana juice.

Bud Light I say.
A girl's got to watch her figure.

Or Yuenglings Lager.

I'm not a beer or bitter drinker, but if I do then it's Guinness - I did try a drop of Darcy's Banana Bread Beer(I think that was the name?) the other week, and that was quite tasty.

Belgian beer brewed in Belgium: try pecheresse (peach flavored beer), kriek bellevue, Gueuze Lambic, Leffe (brown and white); Orval;Charles  quint, etc

Belgian beer brewed elsewhere: Celis beer (made in texas)

Imported: carlsberg; Corona, tsing tao (not the best but I like)

TJsCheekypet -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 4:45:08 AM)

Savage Stella! yum[sm=danger.gif] - 0-pissed in three pints!

RCdc -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 4:45:37 AM)

This is Darcy

I must admit that at the moment I am particularly enamoured with the Banana Bread Beer that the.dark mentioned, but really I find myself changing from week to week depending upon which real ale I am currently infatuated with. [:D]

Some recent, and past, favourites include pretty much anything brewed by the Brakspear brewery, Tanglefoot (by the Badger brewery), Bombardier (by the Charles Wells brewery), and Broadside (by the Adnams brewery).

I also love any deep, dark, rich stouts, though they are harder to come by these days.

i like guinness extra stout when i can find it, if not the regular kind is great too.  i love st. pauli girl dark as well.  in vegas i found something called mocha porter, it was about as clear as mud , can't remember the brand name for the life of me though.

MusicalBoredom -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 7:14:24 AM)

I don't drink but I have a bar (go figure).   The favorites here among those that say they try them all are Blue Moon, Guinness, McKewens Scotch Ale, Red Stripe, Abita Amber and Abita Purple Haze.  Abita is a Louisiana Beer.  Blue Moon is usually ordered with a slice of orange.

"Just give me a fucking Genny, will ya?"

Unofficial slogan of Genesee beer.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 9:12:25 AM)

A nice, crisp an dry English Cider. Strongbow is likely my favorite. Don't do heavy drinking with it unless the next morning is sunday, and I have the paper in the bathroom with me.

If I am drinking for intoxication, then Goose shots with a splash of lime juice in the bottom, and a cranberry juice to sip on.

Irishknight -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 9:16:55 AM)

Hobgoblin would have to top my list.  For some reason, I love that stuff

stella41b -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 9:34:46 AM)

Zlaty Hrad ... a Slovakian beer..

cjan -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 10:27:26 AM)

Really hard to choose. There are so many good brews, non of them the knat piss that American breweries pump out, imo.

One of my favs is a rather pedestrian brew, Mexican, called Negro Modelo. It's almost  as light as a good lager, but dark, as the name implies, with a good ,creamy head and good body.

Emperor1956 -> RE: Really Important Stuff (4/30/2008 10:53:39 AM)

How could I forget...the WORST mass produced beer?   Old Iron City Beer.  Lives up to its unofficial motto "Bitter in the bottle, sour in the can!"

I haven't gotten around to the Abitas, but they're up at my local Wine Shop. I'm still working on my Weihenstephaner. That's my standard for Weißbier now. Yum.

That tells me where you're from. My nephew works at the brewery. Genny Cream Ale. Decent, for mass-produced.

When I was in Virginia last Fall I went to this cool little place in Ghent, just outside of Norfolk, and had a delightful beer called Magic Hat #9 with a delicious cup of she-crab soup.  I'll never forget it.

Stella Artois is good
Blue Moon is OK but I prefer it on tap with an orange wedge.  The bottled stuff is not as good.
Guiness is good, of course
If I'm going to pick up something from the local store, I'll get Sam Adams or Fat Tire Ale
Full Sail Ale has an apricot infused beer that's pretty tasty, too, especially on a hot day
