onlinesub1 -> What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 7:39:09 PM)

I am talking about those people that claim to be a Domme/Mistress but then end up being someone who ask you to sign up to his/her website for webcam action. The last four contacts I had was all from some pay to play website. There should be an option named like "P2P Webcam" or something so they don't call themselves Dommes/Mistresses. It's wasting people's time who actually want to do something productive in the lifestyle. Has anyone run into these type of people lately?

p2p is pay to play, something like ppv

Not to sound cynical or anything, but if there was a P2P option no one would check it, because no one would search for it.

They're getting exactly what they want, which is attention. Attention equals clicks and clicks equals cash.

onlinesub1 -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 7:46:08 PM)

Well that may be true but they ain't getting any good attention from me, just a nice delete and block forever from my list and I am pretty sure I am not the only one who looks down on them. =/

SmokingGun82 -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 8:03:03 PM)

You're not, I'm sure.

My point was adding a special category for them wouldn't help anything. I wasn't saying that they're fantastic or anything.

LadyPact -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 8:10:59 PM)

There's also the theory of those wanting online only are a waste of time.  You're in the situation where you have no worth, unless you either A) show up in person or B) fork over the cash.

onlinesub1 -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 8:12:27 PM)

That is prob just as annoying as telemarketers. They must be getting paid good to do a job like that I guess.

I don't falsely label myself like they do. Your point is moot to this discussion.

LadyPact -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 8:19:47 PM)

No, I don't believe it is.

You must consider for a moment that there is a portion of the CM population who are here because the lifestyle is directly related to living life, not having an electronic relationship.  For Me to waste that kind of time on a particular person, they would absolutely have to make it worth My while.  If all you would hope to be would be pixels on a screen, you must think that there is someone on the other end, that has to wonder why they should chose to make the investment.  Exactly why the financial investment, will most likely be yours.

I have the greatest respect for those who are willing to be more than 'online'.  To step away from the computer and experience their greatest hopes.  It takes courage, and other personal traits that few will find via electronic methods.

As to false labeling, how could one possibly judge, when they themselves, are not willing to prove themselves in flesh and blood?

onlinesub1 -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 8:24:09 PM)

I honestly don't care what is worthwhile to you. This topic is about people who falsely label themself to bring attention to themself. Why are you bringing in my lifestyle into question?

LadyRainfire -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 10:25:54 PM)

OP, LadyPact wasn't questioning you specifically but just asking you to consider that not everyone is into an online relationship. There is a portion of people that won't consider doing it, insisting for themselves, to meet and practice in person. To live their choices in real time. I know that I am getting ready to move in my Master in a few weeks, I met him here on CM, in the forums actually. If you prefer online, great, that's your choice and preference. Our choice is real time. There is no One Twue Way. [sm=biggrin.gif]

As for your original post, keep doing what you doing - delete and block. That's the best thing you can do in the current situation.

onlinesub1 -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 11:00:09 PM)

This isn't the first time Pact tried put down my way of pursing the lifestyle =/ and yes I guess I have no choice but to delete and block. Good luck moving in with your Master. =)

MistressOfGa -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (4/30/2008 11:29:21 PM)

Onlinesub,
I suppose you will probably find the majority of people who post to this forum do not hang out in chat rooms long enough to "run into these types of people". I would just suggest you ignore them. If they sound too good to be true, chances are they aren't. I could talk about the "real" Dom's as opposed to some that hang out in chat rooms, but I won't because I am sure there are "real" ones who do hang out there. It is so foreign to me to look for a submissive in a chat room. But I suppose no more foreign than meeting them on CM, which is where I met my submissive.
Oh hell, block and ignore them. My best advice :)

There are a lot of greedy, gold diggers wanting "tributes" on this site and lots of fake bot profiles to promote some site or porn...whatever. Just ignore, delete, move on, etc.

As for the the lil mini "argument" just ignore it. People on this forum tend to be rude and pretentious, especially those with the high and mighty "Master/Mistress" label. There is probably a way to put certain posters on ignore, use it if so.

LadyPact -> RE: What is it with these P2P Webcam providers? (5/1/2008 2:11:07 AM)

It has nothing to do with putting down the way you are pursuing the lifestyle.  What I'm saying is, you have to look at it from the other angle.  That being, what's in it for them?  Most people consider their time valuable, and want something out of it for themselves.  If you're looking for someone who is willing to put in the time, but settle for less, you have to think of why they are willing to do that.  It sounds harsh, but financial gain is a good equalizer.

You may not like the sound of it, but if there wasn't at least some truth to it, you wouldn't be running into the problem.  There's money to be made, or pay to play wouldn't exist.

I would have to say that the people you have desribed are no more in number than the pissy, whiney, "i am a victim", 'do-me' sub-types.

OP, you seem to be having a bit of a "moment". It is okay. We understand. Not everybody has enough money for P2P. I can see where being near destitute would make somebody seem rude and offensive. But you really should try to contain it. Would it help if all P2P provided were required to do a specific amount of pro bono work? ( That means doing it for free. )
OR...if you would like, we could call you a waaaahhhmbulance.

<---- always eager to help.

they got attention with this post.

I'm still trying to figure out just how to differentiate between those who "want to be productive in this lifestyle" and those who don't.  I work to be productive.  I live to enjoy life.

Again trying to go off topic and putting my lifestyle down. It's like saying oh I'm not trying to put you down, but you are shit. I don't see the difference between my last sentence and your posting.
