But this is a tax on the poor. The vast majority of the people who get fast food on a regular basis are lower and middle class.

I don't like this. mainly as the cheapest food right now is fast food, thus why so many who are poor eat it. So, its ANOTHER tax on those who are poor, if you ask me. And you wonder how the rich stay richer... Why not a tax on fois gras or veal, if we're going for a real 'sin tax'?

The lottery's a fucking scandal: it's the ultimate tax on the poor. Because really, who else than the poor play it? If you're rich, you're less likely to go for it. Tax the fastfooders away: they peddle poison. Mumblegrumbelbum.

It's much cheaper to buy and prepare your own meals. I can eat well for less than five dollars a day-try doing that on fast food. Three meals. But I am also not lazy, I am willing to do the small amount of work it takes.

There was a Dutch health report released not too long ago that said that people who keep themselves healthy are a burden to health services rather than unhealthy people because unhealthy people usually died suddenly or after short illnesses. People who tried to keep healthy lived longer and hence used the health service more and when they were seriously ill, their illnesses where much longer than unhealthy people who would just die off. So I guess sports equipement, gyms, bikes and anything else that keeps you fit should really be taxed more.

Considering? Every state I've lived in already had a tax on fast food. So, most states don't or what? Carbonated drinks also have a tax. Water doesn't until they add carbonation.
