There is a group on lifejournal that often posts homemade toys

http://community.livejournal.com/budget_bdsm/

I do like the idea of asking collarme to add a section to the forums on it. I wonder if enough of us ask will they do it?

CM should add in a forum but we shall see.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/This_Old_Dungeon/ is a yahoo group but it sucks, I belonged to a few others and they sucked too.

There is a need out there for a decent forum.  I am working with a very talented webdesigner, our very own Instinctive to redo my woodworking site, www.torturewood.com.

I don't know how interactive the site will end up but I am going to have a lot of how-to articles because the amount of miss-information about wood and woodworking rivals the crap about bdsm that spills out of chatrooms.

Since craftsmanship is the hallmark of what I make and cannot be equaled without real skill I am going to publish the plans for most of my stuff.  I am also going to show what is involved in doing things like inlay and veneerwork as well as how to use handplanes and other hand tools.

I currently have links up for some of the better woodworking tool catalogs and will have more when the new site is up.  I will also show were to get better looking hardware than is found at homedepot as well as how to forge your own.

I am exhausted, forgot to mention how to do a take down cross.  Cabinet shops use a connector that requires a 35mm hole on each piece and a connecting slot, there is a thing that goes in there and you can pull the parts together.  To make it work for a cross you need to add two alignment pins and you are done.

I used a similar conection system only mine was not interlocking the pressure from the 2x4 wedge is what kept the two together but I used L shapes for the overlapping  (L7)  Kinda like that

considering the positive feedback here I decided to try a little something...

WARNING: I have never used HTML or even a wysiwyg editor so be nice to me...

If there is someone that knows a bit and would like to volenteer some time to fix it shoot me a message on the other side.

I'm there!  Even posted a new thread to try to help get people started.  (No one ever seems to want to be the first person to post.... Then they complain that 'no one is posting'.... Doh!)

Were you ever on Sartans_Workshop or BDSMWorkshop (i think those were the names) back before Yahoo did their large-scale adult purges? (or for that matter, back when they were eGroups?) There was some very good information there, particularly with regards to motorized toys. Then it went bye-bye. Now the world is a safer place [8|]

Considering that there isn't a lot of traffic on this subforum, i can't really see a DIY-specific forum drawing enough traffic to justify it here.

i would definitely appreciate some quality woodworking info, tho ... i'll take a whack at building just about anything (finally got my chopper out today! w00t!), but it usually comes out like crap [:o]

i love the idea of a central place to brainstorm wicked methods and tools of torment! i have a full journal of ideas, methods, technique, sketches, plans, materials... etc. and im more than happy to answer any questions anyone has on this subject.

Phin!  Where did the Homemade toys forum go?  I lost all my book marks over 2 weeks ago and I'm still trying to 'find' everything again.

Irishm57 -> RE: homemade toy group. (6/14/2008 12:25:11 PM)

It looks like it poofed.. it redirects to hoxx now..

MsStarlett -> RE: homemade toy group. (6/14/2008 12:28:42 PM)

Yes... I saw that, but hoped it was in error.

I was just about to start work on my first home made flogger.  Wanted to check and see if anyone had that up yet.  I know I've seen pages about it, and it's fairly simple to do... but I was hoping to find a source for braiding the handle.

Oh well... Maybe I'll just use this table leg and not worry about decorating.
