mistoferin -> Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 7:47:45 AM)

When people are in a relationship "I love you" can become a habit, one that you repeat each time you come into or leave each others presence or in passing throughout the day. Even though the phrase can have great emotion at it's roots, it can become to sound as though there is no real thought behind it's expression.

Last night as we were lying in bed, Sir asked me if he had told me just how much he loves the way the cheek of my ass fits into his hand. Certainly, that is not the entire basis of his love for me....but wow, did it ever make my heart soar! Too often I think, we don't break it down and express to our partners the reasons why we love them, the things that we love about them or tell them in what ways our lives are enhanced as a result of them being in it. I know that I am certainly going to try to be more conscious of it and try to expound more on the reasons behind the words.

I am allowed to ask for things to be done during sessions, and one that I specifically asked for was to sit on my Daddy's lap, face to face, and tell Him why I care so much about Him and our relationship.  For me it is easier to put in writing; difficult face to face.  I asked for this task to make myself grow.  Then He will know exactly why I love Him and the journey we are on, and I am hoping it will help me to overcome my fear of saying it aloud.

Thank you, mist.  I'm always telling those close to me I love them.  Now, I am going to make sure I tell them why.  [:)]

You're so right, it has become a phrase where little thought has been applied in its application. We get so caught up in our every day lives, it's nice to have a reminder... Thank you for yours.

Maybe it's because I'm still in the "Weeeeeeee, we're in love!" phase, but this hasn't been a problem with Mistress and I. I don't think a day's gone by yet where I haven't specifically illustrated a few of the numerous reasons I love Her.

MUSH![8|]

Srsly, Mist, excellent post.  I think we need to be as appreciative as we can and in specific ways.

Soppily adorable [;)] Reality and I were like that for the first year, but as a routine becomes more ingrained and life intrudes we take short-cuts. It's a shame that we do and the OP is a nice reminder for me to be more specifically appreciative of my girlyboy.

Grins, just last night i was laying in bed with Scooter and hugged him and told him i love him for the way he pets me when i have my head on his lap.

And, i love you erin, for the way you are always there, the way you always listen.

Dnomyar -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:38:36 AM)

If I were hold the cheek of a nice ass I would tell the woman that I loved her if she would let me spread those cheeks. If not I would probably lie and say it anyway.

Twicehappy2x -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:46:57 AM)

That would be lust, not love.

OmegaG -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:48:07 AM)

I can flippantly tell someone I love them, a co-worker who does a favor for me, a friend who's listened to a 15 minute diatribe.

But to tell the person that I love that I love him and not have it sound trite.... yeah, I'm still working on that.  But then, I've always taken those three words used in the contex of a relationship very seriously.

Nice thread topic.  Yes, I tell him why all the time.  :)

sirsholly -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:51:45 AM)

this is such a sweet thread!  It adds so much more meaning when you say not just the words, but one of the many meanings behind them.

Omega practice on me. You know I won't believe it but it will give you practice.

eyesopened -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:57:00 AM)

i try to say it daily.  i want to remind Him that He is awesome, smart, funny, wise, wicked, thoughtful, talented, successful, and everything i've ever wanted amd more that i had ever thought possible.

When i say "i love You' i mean that.  i love HIM, the whole package, everything that makes Him the unique person He is.  "i love You" includes the reason.  i would not love Him if He were not... well... HIM.

OmegaG -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 8:59:34 AM)

Baby, you know I love you.

Wow. I love you because you have a way cool hot tub and you don't care if I sit my fat, naked butt in it. LMAO!

Seriously though.....you have mail.

sub4hire -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 9:52:06 AM)

About once a month we do, though you're right.  We do tell one another we love each other but don't get into great details but every so often.
Last night we did because we got bad news.  Someone who is very close to us was just diagnosed with lung cancer.
Sort of makes you stop and think in your tracks.

mistoferin -> RE: Have you told them lately WHY you love them? (5/5/2008 9:58:33 AM)

I'm very sorry and hope that your friend will come through it well. Yes, it does make you stop and think. Watching my own sister battling breast cancer has been a terrifying ordeal, but it has also been extremely inspirational also to all who know her.

I guess that is why I started this thread. Every second of our lives are precious...and yet so often we take things for granted and fall short of living them to the fullest. Not that it is ever our intention to do so....just that the clock keeps ticking and the day to day stuff can preoccupy us.

I agree, eyesopened. I also know that I'm still in the "honeymoon" stage since I'm getting ready to move there to be with Him in a few weeks. An exciting, nervous wonderful time that we can't wait for. Just a few more weeks..... [;)]
