Hello all,
  I'm looking for an article that I read years ago. It might have been written by Midori but my efforts so far have come to naught. Perhaps someone knows what I'm looking for? The article discusses the BDSM "community" or rather, the fallacy people have of expecting the BDSM community to be all accepting and  close knit group of people when the reality, in that particular writters opinion was that there is really no BDSM community. Does anyone know what I'm takling about? Can anyone provide me with a link or the article? I would so appreciate any help with this.

No, but that sure is true.  It's like the "community of dog lovers."  Some people go to dog shows.  Some people do dog care professionally.  Some people have cute little Pekinese.  Some train pit bulls to fight.  Some don't even have dogs.  They just fantasize about having one someday.

A shared interest does not mean everybody gets along, happy happy.  And it sure doesn't mean that there's a lot of gung-ho, all-in-this-together community spirit.  It's up to you to find people who are trustworthy and decent -- and to be such a person yourself.

It's an interesting idea, and one of the reasons why I always put the phrases "BDSM community" or "BDSM lifestyle" in quotations whenever I must use them in a sentence. The main reason is really that I just abhor wearing t-shirts.

I suppose the term "community" can mean several things. If one means the feeling of fellowship with others, sharing a common set of interests and ideas, that would constitute a community, in a very general sense.
