I'm making a scrapbook for her, and one of the things I'd like to include in the book is a list of advice. I'm going to call the page "Words to the Not Yet Wise." (Not condescending; inside family joke.)
So here's my question. Based on your life experience, what piece of advice would you give to a brand new adult that you know they will be better off if they heed? From me, that piece of advice is going to be: You can't change other people. You can only change the way you behave towards them.
I'm going to pretty up the fonts, of course, but I'd like to say up front, if you contribute, I will be copying and pasting any replies, but solely for the sake of the scrapbook page. I don't plan on giving credits to anyone, including myself, but other then corrections for spelling (not grammar) they will go in as you write them. The only other guideline is please keep it one to two sentences in length.

1) Listen to your elders (the reason they haven't been run over by a truck and aren't dead at this moment should be of some curiosity to you).
2) If you're a guy, cut your hair short...if you're a girl....don't.
3) Don't do everything you're told.
4) Try to do everything you're told.
5) If you can't manage # 4 above....don't worry, your children will explain in great detail why you should have. Give it time (they won't....{give it time}).
6) If there was anything I could POSSIBLY tell you as to your future, be aware...this is it: You're going to do everything wrong that your Mother told you not to....not because she was so incredibly smart....but because she was so incredibly stupid.
(From that she gained wisdom).
Ya might consider some of the things she has to say.
(Be aware...I didn't listen to her either...and I have a very nice 1977 station wagon which I live in...and frankly, except for the dry cleaning bills...I'm really quite happy).
