i had some recipe club charging my card once a month for about 4 months.....each time i reported it and each time they credited my account.  finally, the person at the cc company said im gonna close this account and give you a new one.  once i got a new account number, it stopped.

still dont know where the recipe club got my number.....but no more problems since then.  you might wanna try asking them to close this account and give you a new one.

He said that he has done that I believe.

I had a credit card company try to charge me finance charges a month after I closed the account.  I called up and only had to argue for amoment before they not only decided that I didn't owe anything they decided that it was supposed to be a credit from where I had overpayed.  I again demanded that the account be closed and any money I had paid be mailed to me.  I got promises but the check seems to have been in the mail for 2 months.  I used to have one with a 2000 dollar limit.  The first time I used it was for 1200 in car repairs. They immediately dropped my credit limit to 1000 and hiy me with overdraft fees.

My personal opinion is that all credit cards are scams.  They can change your interest rates without telling you, your credit limit is also subject to change without your knowledge and they have a minimum payment designed that it will never allow you to pay off your debt.  They scam college students with cards with 400 dollar limits then add enough extra charges after they get used so that the company causes an overdraft and they can charge additional money.
This is one area where some serious government inervention needs to take place.  Put some serious protections in place from these leeches.

Is it possible you have been caught in a phishing scam? Have you ever gotten an email from E-Bay or Paypal saying they needed an update or information on your account? If you followed the link in that email you probably went to a site that looked exactly like E-Bay or Payal, but in reality it was not. Any information you gave on that site was collected by a scammer.
If you ever get an email form a place you have an account such as these two, DO NOT follow the link in the email. Go to the site directly and check your information, or email the site adminstrators for the real site and ask if you need to do anything with your account.

at the moment credit cards from a credit union are ok, but I expect that to lessen in a few years.   I closed out 2 cards- wrote and asked for the few $ i am owed.  i wont hold my breath.

Every single freaking month there's a bunch of fradulent charges, and they can't tell me why. I've changed the account a billion times had it cancled had it put on hold ect ect, and today just now I found 4 more fraudulent charges. this is beginning to piss me off. Royally. they are also extreaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamly slooooooooooooooooow dealing with fraud reports, last time it took me like over a year to get anywhere, an then once they determined I WAS owed money it took them like 6 months to issue me a check. I was going to keep this card because the 3 thoughsand dollar limit, but this has killed any interest I had in their company or doing business.

Yourhand, get rid of the Walmart/GE card!
What's the interest rate that they're charging you?
I had a Target credit card and they were charging me 18.9% interest! (Bastards!)
I was at my bank one day and I just happened to mention it to one of the tellers and she said to go talk to one of the ladies in customer service.
I have good credit so the bank offered me a card at 9.50% with a $5,000 limit.
And she said, "If you want to increase the limit to $15,000 just let me know anytime."
So I payed off my Target card and put it on "hold" - no more charging but didn't cancel it.
If you have a card with a local bank and there's a problem  you can simply walk into the local bank and customer service will handle it for you right then and there! No phone calls to India and no waiting for 6 months!
The credit card companies got the "Usury" laws changed so now they can charge people up to 30% if they're late on payments!
We need to get congress to change those laws back to where they were!
You can get a better rate with a shylark these days!
You're usually always better off with a bank credit card from your own bank that you are with a store card like Walmart, Sears or Target!
You're paying way too much interest!

Zupan's post got my interest.

Now I have never used a Paypal account, and I have a seperate email for eBay business. AOL actually was my ISOP for a time, but no more. I still keep it for the email andFTP.

Efvery so often on my master account there is spam, it says that I need to update my Paypal info, and at times ity says I have to update my eBay registration info.

Now remember that I have never had a Paypal account, and also that the email address that recieved the supposed request from eBay for more info had never been realed to eBay. I have an official eBay email contact and I get the same thing there, same script, same people it looks like.

Over the years they have gotten bold "Your eBay account will be suspended in 48 hours if you do not resubmit your information". But remember this is not the email I use for eBay.

Now that I think of it, it's time to go check my email. See who wants my money.

That is why it is smart to pay MORE than the minimum amount due, by at least double, so if it's only 30 pay 60. Plus keep in mind that with  your finance  dollars a month, only half of your  payment is going to the balance. psst by the way this is the she, of the he she couple:D

And yes I have closed the account. The company no longer allowes the block option so I closed the acount entirely.

Zupan Sure, I get them all the time but I never ever do them I know better than to fall for those fishing scams. I've been smart to them from the day I became aware of them 3 years ago. And I never do them I know they're only fronts for an attempt to steal your identity...

Poppey they're charging me 20.62 and with a balance over a thoughsand dollars it's 20 dollars a month finance fee. I don't qualify for anything higher than 600 from my bank. Or rather I haven't in the past. When I pay off all my exsisting debt I'll ask the bank again.

Something similar happened to my mom with her GM card...she lives here in Michigan, and when she opened up her statement, there was a few thousand dollars of charges originating in Connecticut at a gas station and a Target store. The cops started to investigate, and luckily, the places the card was run through had a camera that was actually working. They located the guy, and prosecuted to the fullest extent. GM, however, refused to take the charges off the card, because they stated that the account numbers were the same. Different name on the card, but the same numbers. She's still fighting, with the help of the state cops here and in CT, attorneys and all the happy crap that goes along with a felony.

Sorry to hear about your luck, it just wouldn't have taken me all that long to cancel the freakin' card.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Walmart GE money bank credit card repeated fraud showing up (5/11/2008 12:23:43 PM)

stubborn girl, really cause I was told the card has a zero fraud liability clause, an if it's fraud you're not responsible for paying it.

I didn't cancle it before now cause i had hoped keeping it on block for a year would of been enough to stop the problem.

stubborngirl -> RE: Walmart GE money bank credit card repeated fraud showing up (5/11/2008 12:26:19 PM)

I hope that everything works out in your favor!

Yourhand, you're being ROBBED at 20.62%!!!
Get rid of it and get the bank card that offers $600 to start!
After 6 months they'll raise it to $1,000-$1,500 if you make your payments on time. Just buy only what you absolutely "need" during that time.
The guys in East Boston would be absolutely jealous of the "vig" these credit card companies are charging.
