dragon2760 -> Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 9:58:18 PM)

i am new here and i am sure this has been asked before but i could not quite find what i was looking for through a search.

i have seen the terms Slave and Submissive used not only in different contexts but also in simular contexts and was wondering what is the general opinion of those here as to their differences as well as their simularities??

thanks

kittinSol -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 9:59:00 PM)

Slaves are real, submissives are fake [8D] .

peppermint -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:10:17 PM)

The general opinion is that we all have our own opinion.

dragon2760 -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:19:04 PM)

i know i am a newbie here and it is probably a lot of fun to play around with one but i am really wanting to know and learn what is the general consenses from those here in the use of this two terms.

kittinSol -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:25:02 PM)

You'll find a lot of mischievous answers because this subject's been argued over ad nauseam. Have you tried the 'search' option? It will bring about a plethora of threads on the matter. Thousands of them, I suspect.

Leatherist -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:28:09 PM)

I always think of mud wrestling, and the announcer doing the "monster truck voice" when I read titles like this.

TONIGHT WE HAVE THE ULTIMATE BATTLE!!!!!!!,SLAVE VS SUBMISSIVE!!!!!!! THIS IS THE CAGE MATCH TO WIN THE GOLDEN COLLAR FOLKS!!!!!!ONLY ONE GETS OUT ALIVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kittinSol -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:30:09 PM)

Everyone knows the 'slave vs. submissive' fight is a pure formality and that the slave will always win: a slave is pure and valiant. A submissive, devious and perverse  [8D] .

Maya2001 -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/10/2008 10:42:56 PM)

Basically relates to the level of submission  with a slave allowing more authority over her but their is no clear cut lines to define one as slave and the other as sub which is the reason for the debates

You will find there is no agreement.

New posters often have problems using the search function... this should help answer your question...

Submissive/Slave?

The difference between being a slave versus being a sub...

the difference between a slave and a submissive?

why slave and not submissive?

slave or submissive?

slave vs. submissive round #1001

Slave vs. Submissive

Distinction between "Submissive" and "Slave"

submissive vs slave

What's the difference between a slave and a submissive?

difference between slave and submissive

submissive, slave, meta-slave...

Good luck.

It seems to me that a slave consents, in advance, to non-consent for whatever follows, with varying degrees to the 'out clause' on this.
A submissive retains her right to withdraw consent to anything, at any time.

Justme696 -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/11/2008 1:40:40 AM)

I see (notice the I as in my opinion) it like this;  a sub has an influence on my opinion ,while a slave has to follow me

And  then again there is the slub....smiles t

Exactly - (to the above two contributions) because the slave serves the Mistress's agenda whereas the sub carries his own with him. Although I can understand why people consider a slave purer, I think the sub dynamic of saying honestly and openly what he thinks and wants (if he does this rather than manipulating) can be just as meaningful.

nicely said..... and ofcourse it depends on what you agree on..before you collar your sub/slave

chamberqueen -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/11/2008 6:46:16 AM)

I read a similar post on another site and I heard the best simple answer:  All slaves are subs but not all subs are slaves.

Really, it is up to each relationship to define it.  While I was on a business trip last week my Master wrote to me "I'm so happy that you are my slave, not a sub."  When I saw Him in person I asked Him why.  In His mind (and I think this is pretty general) a slave is willing to do more with less questions.  They still have rights to have hard limits, and should still get fulfillment from their role, but often have less input.

Some have mistakenly felt that slaves are not loved or treasured.  If anything, by giving of themselves more fully (and this is not to say that subs can't give fully of themselves) the relationship between Top and bottom grows more quickly.

SensibleSam -> RE: Slave versus Submissive (5/11/2008 9:01:06 AM)

Consider the debate of Phlogiston versus Lumeniferous Ether.

This is another one that is unlikely to be resolved soon. The process works like this. There is an observed phenomenon. A name is attached to it. Soon another name is attached to a variant of this phenomenon. Then the unsophisticated begin to treat the names as if they corresponded to some underlying reality and they begin a pointless debate.

In BDSM we call certain women slaves. We do this because it pleases us. The connotations of the term slave are strong and elict sexual pleasure in both the Dominant and the submissive participant. Similarly among vanilla couples the man might call his partner "Snuggy-Wuggams". This too makes him happy.

Happiness is good. All this is fine until people try to take these tags literally.

In the movie We Were Soldiers Mel Gibson says something to the effect, "we are cavalry and these are our horses" (pointing to the Huey helicopters). Sensible people people would recognize that this is a metaphore. A literalist would begin to buy oats.

Slavery is a human institution of great antiquity. The western classical world was based on it. Virtually every culture until quite recently had slavery as a recognized status. History books and media are filled with references to slavery. It is a well known condition and institution even though its expression varied greatly over different cultures and at different times.

Therefore when one calls someone a slave that term evokes a rich set of connotations. The mistake is to believe that the term slave is denotatively meaningful. This is like buying oats for your helicopter.

Holy shit!  Dude, leave the Heinz Pagels at home.  People are actually trying to figure out real life here.  You didn't even spell all of your words right.

I swear, dragon2760, for the amount of time people spend trying to get thinking "right" they could actually be in the world, having relationships with friends and lovers.  Figure out what's best for you in the situation with the person you're with.  And -- **big secret alert** -- what you enjoy doing with that person might not be the same as what you enjoy doing with somebody else.
