If you need to, heres what you could say
Master, may we have an open conversation? "What do you need pet" Master, I know you are looking out for my best intrests and I dont mean to appear ungreatful for your help and guidence, but I do not believe being a lawyer will be a career choice I will enjoy. I personally would prefer getting a degree in such and such a feild. I feel because this degree is in something I truely enjoy it will be a better path. Im sorry that I feel the need to go against your wishes but I do not think this path (lawyerdom) is for me.

If he has your best intrests at heart, he will understand and accept such a choice that you are making if not. You have to choose, be a lawyer spend 90 grand on something youll hate... or go against your owner. It might lead to you being dismissed by him. But its time to grow up and be an adult. You can make yourself sucessful. So a man threatend to spank your bottom if you didnt do something. You can give yourself a similar punishment. If I dont do xyz Ill be homeless and totally useless as a human being... I think that is much more of a punishment then a spanking... but thats just me...

Hye I just reached an epiphany... Since you were a Pro-Domme you obviously know how to be a bitch... So why dont you obey "master", go to law school then cry palimony and take him for half his shit and get a lien on the other half.... Then dont practice, just retire on all masters assets and what he as to pay you each month! LOL Bet the next sub he will counsel to prepare for a career as a Hooters girl!

That's an overgeneralization, aviator. You'd be hard pressed to find someone as outspoken and assertive as I am. Submission is a choice, and a lot of us choose to only give it to certain people. It's one of the major reasons I don't associate with a lot of the local BDSM groups. I don't like anyone telling me or anyone else who is "real" and who isn't. There are no rules or norms when it comes to a person's individual sexuality or relationship choices.

Kittty, slaveboy is right, law degrees are a dime a ton.
And it'll only get worse as more companies "outsource" overseas and no longer require the services of local law firms. You'll be competing with millions of lawyers from India and China and they graduate them at 100,000 per clip and $20k per year is "big money" to those people.
It's the law of supply and demand.
And what's left of the "Middle Class" after Bush and all this "free trade" stuff can't afford lawyers.
Go to Nursing school.
You'll *never* be without a job and they make very good money!

Because I am not married to him. I do worry that part of his reason for not marrying me is his financial situation. He has a privately held company that has some chance of going public. Thus he might have 10X the amount of money he has now a few years from now. Marrying him now would mean that half of this is mine. I assume that this is a major impetus for him not to marry me. Of course, once he has all that money, I would assume that he could do better than me and might dump me if we are not married. Thus the only thing I can hope for is that his company fails financially.

Slaveboy your right - but you also dont strike me as someone who would consider entering a career he doesnt want to because Master/Mistress said so. (I dont know your orinetation so I put it both ways I wasnt implying bisexuality)

Certain careers require a certain personality type. Dominance, decisiveness, self confidence and certainty in ones self and your chosen course of action. For example, in flight I AM GOD. Jesus is my bitch. If I say do something, dont hesistate dont question, do it and do it now.... Bcause at 500 feet agl with a 1000 feet per minute sink rate I dont have a minute to discuss it with some first officer. If I take that minute to discuss, we will have made a smoking hole 30 seconds ago. Some occupations leave no room for waffling, second guessing oneself, gaining approval of others, forming a consensus, taking focus groups etc,... In court room, when the judge says Redirect? "I need a recess to call master" wont cut it. Im sure shes a nice lady, and I respect peoples choices but law is an occupation where you hold other peoples lives in your hands.... Im a firm believer in individual liberities, but I also expect those I rely on to be reliable and well suited for what I rely on them for...

I agree. What do you think is going to happen if he does dump you or you leave him? Are you going to become a crack whore? If you have this low of an opinion of yourself, than you need to see a shrink. Codependency does not a good relationship make.

Despite the quasi-divorce proceeding suggested by the word, "palimony" is not a legal term and has never been used by the California Supreme Court. The legal term, at least in California, is "non-marital relationship contract", and because the relationship is non-marital, the family courts have no jurisdiction. Disputes over contract terms are civil cases, thus enforcement is left to trial courts, or in California, "superior court".

So, I'd have to go to court and claim that Master owned me as property, which is a non marital relationship contract. I somehow do not think this would fly.

Sorry kiddo. There really is no easy money.
