ok im not sure if any here will be able to help me really but i have been into bdsm for many many years but have had some issues in meeting people with the same desires as me i was in the army for my late teens and then live europe for a few years i am now in the midlands of the uk and am having a very hard time in meeting people even for general chat and friendship within the bdsm scene i have looked on the net for meets and such but i just cant seem to find anything could any one give any advice as to how to get into a local scene or meet people as im not 100% into talking over the net i dont like the ide of i could be talking to a famle who says she is a man or a minor who is to sexual active and so on

UK wise try www.informedconsent.co.uk, lots of local munches, fetish fairs, web sites listed there.

yeah IC is your best bet though there are lots of UK peeps on here .. we are outnumbered massively... Informed Consent is a great site and you will soon find plenty of people

If you are willing to travel around a little you will find there are plenty of great munches etc around ... i am based in Leeds and go as far as London on occassion to meet similar depraved souls.
If you can be bothered I can recommend the Manchester scene .. its a bit of a trek for you but its great fun and actually filled with normal functioning human beings with table manners and everything. What with Yorkshire being God's own country the munches over here are grand once you know people

ahh . . . . softness? I hate to tell you , but gods own country is New Zealand! Sorry that you could be so mistaken. Of course if you watch Coronation Street, i can see how you would make that mistake (roll eyes). heh heh

I have similar problems meeting local people as I am in Darlington in the UK (a little further north than Sweetness), but when I lived in Leeds there was a vibrant scene there and we even went down to events in Nottingham (Marquis Masquerade at Rock City for example).

I've checked Informed Consent and there doesn't seem to be much in my local area (Newcastle-ish) but I'm hoping that someone here / on the other side can put me in touch with others and who knows, maybe we'll start our own?
