TearCollector -> Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 3:34:39 PM)

I posted on the thread "Annoyed" about issues a very nice young woman found concerning. It had to do with messages wanting to much to fast and my reply was that a lot of the messages a new girl gets when her profile hits the site is from guys that just sit and wait for new profiles and they send them the same lines that they send everyone else.

Well, that’s probably harmless but I can see how it can be frustrating and a filter or monitoring software could be put in place to weed out this "spam or unwanted messages".

Im not a female but it seems females get tons of messages. I said in a previous post that if all the ladies were to combine their messages on a spreadsheet of sort, I ll bet what you would find is the same guys messaging the same things to every woman he can. Now ladies, Im not you. But, wouldn’t you like to be able to filter out or at least be able to find out just how this person operates on the site? I know I would.

I would propose a graph software that would show how many messages a profile has sent out to different ID's over a given time frame. I would not count total messages to one person because that is between those two people. But different ID's over time would seem like an interesting graph. What this graph would tell me is that if a person is contacting 10 new people every single day, he is someone with toooo much time on his hands or a creep.

The other thing that may come in handy is a filter much like a spam filter for email. If you don’t want to receive messages from someone who sends out 10 messages a day, then you should be able to block them out.

This probably won’t help us guys much as we don’t get 100 messages a day. But I know for you females that post pictures, you get flooded. Wouldn’t it be great to only get the messages that you really want?

I think it would be another step towards taking personal accountability away from someone (in this case, the new woman) and the loss of privacy and besmirchment of someone unduly (the "creep")

If a guy sends you an email that you don't like, then don't respond and don't get involved.

Anything else is just another version of the "bad dom list"

TearCollector -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 4:15:51 PM)

I dont disagree with what you say but I have heard more then once of females getting 140 messages a day. How do you get through all that? Knowing that 90 % is rubbish. If it were me, Id like a tool to deal with it.

Just my oppinion. Obviously it snot me or my problem. It just seemed like a worth while idea.

ExistentialSteel -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 4:26:19 PM)

I really doubt that some get over a hundred e-mails a day as I have read. However, if someone is sending out zillions of e-mails to every sub in sight, Collarme should band he/she for using up all the space.

felineone -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 4:59:06 PM)

I beleive the amount of e-mails received is directly related to what kind of pic is posted.

have a sexy pic, get lots of e-mail.

have a drawing like mine cuts waaaaay down on the one liners/sleezy mail.

if i was searching i might have a different pic, but i'm not, so i don't!

Wow;
I guess my pic had "bondage" in it... it's gone! [:@]

OscarHargraves -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 5:35:50 PM)

Why don't you make the program available and see if any of the ladies want to use it?

Wolfie648 -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 6:43:52 PM)

Hey while we are monitoring the creeps, maybe we could monitor the whites and the blacks and the jews and anyone between the age of 20-30...slippery slope.

Just a thought %-)

anopheles -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/19/2005 6:50:29 PM)

In theory that sort of program would work, but from a technical standpoint, the integration with the actual message board would be tough, and all the additional database queries would slow the site down a lot, as message boards are pretty taxing on webservers anyway.

I personally being a female would enjoy having a new method of internet security ....D Sir I am sorry I just dont see your points monitoring creeps can in no way in my eyes be compared to racism. Creeps are often abusive chasing after women like a dog who was starved from month chasing after a nice bloody steak, I personally see alot creeps turn into cyber stalkers and even go as far as to turn into real life stalkers. I believe it is incredibly unfair to link security from creeps to the same symbolism as racial segreagation online.

Just an opion from the female in the peanut gallery

I did also have (other than just racial groups) people in the age group of 20-30.

I consdered some religious groups but thought that might really get me scorched.

I suppose I should have added things like, people with freckles, people who hit each other and like it...

The point is is that in order to say 'you people over there doing x (being creeps)' involves segregation - it involves the same thought process the Nazis used to kill millions of jews.

Now taken too far this principle could make an argument for anarchy - which I am not advocating - at least not with the human race in it's current state, maybe in a few hundred thousand years (lol assuming we make it that far). We have laws to punish those that would hurt others against their will (murder, etc.). We even have laws that can punish those that hurt others that consent, because the law does not make the distinction.

However to say 'creeps' is to invite someone to judge who and what a creep is - Witch hunt anyone? Who gets to judge?

I'm not saying creeps don't exist, I'm not defending their actions by any stretch of my imagination - I am suggesting that a person use the block button as they see fit. If receiving 100+ e-mails a day is too much for a person to handle then finding alternate solutions that do not involve the community as a whole in "Us vs. Them". Become responsible for what you will and will not accept (unless you have given that control to someone else in which case have them tell you what to do in this specific case).

One woman's creep is another woman's dream.

your probably right. It might slow down the system. But I still think the idea has merit.

wolfie648
I wasnt talking about infringing on anyones right to privacy here and certainly not interested in adding any more info to big brother. Simply, I was suggesting a tool to sort out creep spam. LOL... ( I like that term)... and racial.. dude.. you really meant to say that.?

you have a color way of expressing your thoughts. Thanks for the peanuts.

wolfie

I think you mean well and we probably agree with the level of concept you refer to. But, the context of the idea was to mimimize unwanted messages "creep spam". Certainly you are not advocating that we not be allowed to keep unwanted solicitations "creep spam" from our mail box? We have commercial spam filters. Its the same thing in my view. Not racial. Not invasion of privacy. Just filtering unwanted solicitations.

We return to the issue at hand: Who gets to decide what's being a creep and getting them labeled and posted as such? Are we going to allow the dominants to CONSENT to get put on this list or are we going to do it whether they like it or not?

Lordandmaster -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/20/2005 5:56:58 AM)

There's no way this is ever going to happen, because the Collarme administration would have to approve of it, and I don't think that's very likely.

indigo302 -> RE: Creep Monitoring Software (10/20/2005 6:08:48 AM)

Well I'm feeling totally left out. *lil pout* I don't get 'tons of mail'.

I think the amount of mail a person gets might be related in some way to the pictures or writings posted to their profile.

I'm not so fond of a filter for creeps. I'm more than capable of deleting an email if I think it's from a creep, or responding with a no thanks if I think the person is simply misguided.

I am female, I am submissive, but I am not weak, and I don't need protecting from the wonders of the internet.

As for cyber stalking, if you click the big X......they can't stalk you. As for it moving to real life stalking...only if you give them the information to find you. Either way, it's another of those personal responsibility things.

I read a long profile here that said at the end to insert a strange phrase in the first email. That's smart. If excessive emails is a problem, I would even ask people to write the strange phrase even before "hello", to make the deleteing faster. There's even a way to make this automatic, if someone wants to contribute to the further improvement of CM.com :).

Also, when I first saw Kasia's sigline, I thought it was a trick : make a real profile with your picture etc, but stating you're 99 yo living in Turkmenistan, and make another profile to post on the board, with only your real location and age, but no details or pictures. Just a thought.

Hello Sir,
I don't agree with the spam filter option you seek.
I agree there are creeps and lonley losers that hit all female profiles as you discuss. While they are irritating it just goes with the territory though.
Anyone who sends the didn't even read your profile thoughtless one liner stupid questions & desperate pleas are obvious to me from the first message they send.
I say it's a free world and if I can be afforded freedom so should they.
Sincerely,
sub suzanne
