I was joking with Master that I was going to post this. Then I got to thinking, maybe I should. It brings up a point that I think that we on collarme should be a little bit more aware of, when answering posts. (some of the regular posters are very aware of this, i have to say, but it is still an issue you see a lot.)
So, here is what happened:
This weekend we had to go out of town on family business. We took 'my' car instead of Master's pickup, because it uses a LOT less gas. While stopped at the gas station to gas up before getting on the freeway to go, Master noticed i had a turn signal out.
So, while at the hotel, when he had a morning of free time before we had our family obligations, he pops down to the autozone and buys a bulb. replacing the bulb didn't work, so he disassembles my dash to try a couple quick cures, then decides it needs to wait till we are home with his tools. but he PUTS MY DASH IN THE FLIPPING TRUNK. his thinking, according to him, is, 'why put it all back together, in the parking lot of the hotel, just to take it apart again when we get home?' I told him i might have to think twice next time he wants to borrow my car. (uh, yea... he suggested i re-evaluate my definition of the word 'my')
So, we get home for the weekend. He tries a few more things. At this point my instrument panel is sitting in the drivers seat. That is the condition, on Monday night. He tells me he now knows what is needed, and will come home from work, middle of his workday, tomorrow, to fix it. I say, let it be, fix it when you get home, i can just not go anywhere tomorrow. I also mention, grinning, that i didn't want to go to my stupid WW meeting anyway. <grin>
Master uses a stern Master voice and says, 'You are going to your weigh in'.
So, Tuesday morning at eleven, i go to my car. Imagine my surprise when i find my instrument panel on my drivers seat!
But I am a good little sub. an order is an order! challenges must be overcome! Master will be so proud of me! So i put the instrument panel up on the dash, and away i drive.
a short while later, ( before arriving at my destination) i receive a call from Master. "Slut, where are you?'
'Why, Sir, I am on my weigh to be wayed.'
"YOU ARE DRIVING THAT CAR IN THAT CONDITION?"
'uhm... no, maybe not, i am thinking i am turning it around and coming home.'
Now, if the last thing he said to me was clearly an order to leave the house - i mean, all i did was obey.. how can he be so mad at me???
anyway, my point being - presented in the proper light, i can get a bunch of nice people on collarme to tell me Master has communication problems, is not to be trusted, run don't walk the other way, don't play with someone who can't communicate better than this, ect, ect.
OTOH, if Master posted this, he could surely get a bunch of nice people to agree with him when he says, 'and it didn't occur to you to CALL me before you drove off in that thing?'
His take is, of course, that he meant to get back before i had to use the car, and he didn't, and, hence, wouldn't i call to double check?
just a communication glitch in real, day to day life. but, presented in the right light, either one of us could get loads of sympathy for 'what we have to put up with', if you are into that kind of drama.

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

BTW I prefer not to call it inconsistent but "keeping my sub on her toes."

You got farther than I would've.  I wouldn't have made it past the tearing up my car and not fixing it part.

Yea, i did mention that to him. As I said, he suggested I re-evalute my definition of 'my'
As in, the car normally used by HIS property, which is registered in HIS name, which HE bought for the slut for her birthday.... is my car, right?

heh, I think this happens on a small basis all the time

"Why didn't you say something at the time?"  "Ummm, I had something in my mouth" "Oh, yeah"

The car belongs to the person who's name is on title (or registration).  No argument there.  My circumstances are different as my car is in my name.

yea, i am aware that things aren't always that simple. I give my son a car (bought by Master, just like mine). It is in my name, mostly so his insurance will be cheaper. But it is his car. he is expected to call for help if he has a problem, instead of just letting it snowball. He is expected to get my permission before he decides to sell it, trade it in, or give it away, but as long as he had worked out what he was going to do next, we would not tell him no.
OTOH, if Master put this sluts car in her name - well, everything she owns really is his, anyway, regardless of whose name is on the title.
sort of along the same lines as her saying everynight, 'can the slut sleep in your bed tonight, Sir?'

you poor baby (voice dripping with sympathy)  how could he be so mean to you - here is the number for the battered subs shelter in your area 000-000-0000 - run, don't walk to it, and be sure not to play with anyone for at least a year because obviously your judgement is suspect. hugs.

Tell that to law enforcement, it's unlikely they'll believe it.

Your girl needs to have her head read - or not -  because there obviously isn't very much going on in there. She must be a bit of a doormat, and i feel for you for having to worry about what she might do next.  (judgemental tone)

People never quote that correctly.

It's, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

Of course, it's anyone's guess exactly what constitutes 'foolish' consistency'...

I love this story!

However, if he's like this all the time...wouldn't it be kinda...consistent?

That is a true statement. Other than stealing - law inforcement tends to refuse to call domestic situations stealing. If you call and report your car stolen by a housemate they will tell you it's not their problem.
but if i do a hit and run, Master would have a problem, just as if my son did, I would have a problem. It put me under responsibility to make sure my son pays his insurance, and Master under responsiblity to make sure i have insurance. so in that sense you are very right.
But in terms of saying to him, 'hey, look what you did to MY car!'
or, the one i would sometimes like to say, 'no, i am not letting my sis drive my car!'
yea, doesn't work so well.

Law enforcement will not deal with grand theft auto?

ha, ha, ha...now that's real life!

the first thing i would have done, being the wonderful submissive that i am, is after he replaced the bulb and the thing still wasn't working, ask him if he checked the fuse...

some people are more mechanically inclined than others and should admit defeat, and  before they break something trying to fix it, especially when it wasn't broken in the first place, ha, ha, ha.

but seriously, i can't believe you drove the car in that condition either; so it's not that he was being inconsistent, but more like, figuring you'd use your common sense

Law enformcent will not be very empathetic to you trying to call a domestic dispute that did not involve physical violence a felony. If your housemate - domestic partner, adult child, ect, takes your car and moves out of state with it without your permision, then, yes, they will deal with it.
If they take it without your permission to go party and it is still not there in the morning when you need it and you want them locked up to teach them a lesson - the cops are going to tell you they have better things to do with their time.
The cops don't like dealing with domestic situations, anyway, so, unless there is voilence - or their precense is needed to avoid violence - they are usually going to tell you to take your drama elsewhere before they get mad and throw everyone in jail.

And, kiwisub, i just love your sense of humor!

This is one of the cases that makes me happy that I don't cohabitate.  This sort of thing would drive me crazy.

Oh I love my own physical space.
But I am one of those nice people on collarme that can see this entirely from your point of view.....since that is the point of view you present it from.
I don't really know what was in your Master's head but sometimes I think (if I remember those ambigous moments) it was as if the ex was insecure about letting go....there had to be one instruction listed, one following the other, following the other. natural contingencies of life didn't figure in it....like real traffic jams or bad weather or pre menstrual tension ARGGHHHHHH.
Now try putting kids and dogs and cats into the equation as well as dashboards..........

Yeah, ya could.. or.. you could get smart-ass slaves asking you how come you didn't hop on a bus so you could both obey and refrain from driving a car which wasn't in optimal condition.
