How about "raghead"? Is that offensive, or only offensive if a Muslim takes it to be so, and its his problem if he finds it offensive?

E

IF someone, say, from China, encountered only that word in reference to Muslims in English (which one can't really imagine happening, but for the sake of argument, pretend it could), and THAT person spoke the word, one should follow the guidance from Androsub...GENTLY inform the person that this is not the correct word, that many if not most people would be offended by it, and inform him of the correct term and then leave it at that.
That is not even remotely what happened to the OP here and it should have been and that is the point that was trying to be made.

The OP apologised and I accepted his apology, because he knew no better. Its not the OP I'm posting for any longer.

So you have hijacked the thread... Sigh.  Can't you start a different thread about what you find offensive so that those who want to support gender exploration (and hot sexual possibilities within the construct of gender exploration) can make their voice heard?

And plenty enough TS females posted that the term is offensive. Seems to me that the confusion refuses to dissipate between what the OP wanted, and us. Nothing knew, perhaps.

You made a leap.  Not a small leap, but a greap big- oh Tarzan I can't believe you swung across The Grand Canyon on your vine leap. Yes, SheMale is a word that some folks (and you are one of them) find offensive.  But not everyone does.  This is a site for people who seek out a specific sort of alternative sexuality and relationships.

Just to put this in context:  Here are  only a few terms from profiles as people describe themselves:  "pussy-boi bitch."  "Big Black Dominant" "SheMale Painslut" "transgendered woman"  "FTM"  "ATM Whore" or my least favorite "diagnosed transexual in transition" as though you had a disease instead of a fabulous opportunity to explore.

Each of us gets to use the words we want to say who we are and what we want.   When you try and regulate the world, especially one where Painsluts and PantyBoys, Random Slash (a description for women that wasn't designed to be uplifting), Cunts in Training and PonyGirls  find each other, it takes some of the fun out of it.

If the Original Poster wants a SheMale to fuck him (something which is really fun), then hopefully someone who likes the term SheMale in his area has contacted him and they have started figuring out if they have what each of them wants...  If he isn't having much luck there... perhaps he can look/post on Craigslist.

Ali

PS.  My favorite CD/TV says that when she is dressed, if she lets a woman know that she is biologically male, very frequently the woman asks what it's like to be under her skirt giving oral sex.  It's the most common think women ask.   When was the last time someone crawled under your skirt and deep throated you?

LadyEllen -> RE: Shemales (5/30/2008 8:03:39 AM)

OK - here's the deal

I am TS. The OP confused TS with shemale. He was put right, he apologised, it was accepted. But then the whole thing escalated by way of the myriad confusions at play in all this trans stuff.

What people dont get - simply dont get - is that TS females do not want to be regarded as in any way male, so the suggestion that they would enjoy being desired for what remains of their male anatomy is ridiculous.

That they should enjoy being desired for what remains of their male anatomy is an opinion expressed by some who dont seem to get it. Apparently, its perfectly OK to take one's pleasure from us as freaks, and we should enjoy it and our awarded status as freaks. We are not people.

Why is this true? Because we are regularly regarded as fit for a bit of fun, a bit of a laugh, but no one would want a relationship with us - we'd be an embarassment after all. There is no need or interest to learn who we are or to find out what sort of partner we'd make - we're circus freaks, not people.

All of this is confused of course, because some crossdressers might enjoy the description shemale - might enjoy being desired for their male parts but female appearance, and remain men throughout - ie people, not freaks. But the OP confused shemale with TS and then so did dozens of others who followed on.

HeidiAnn -> RE: Shemales (5/30/2008 8:19:56 AM)

i have some ts friend who do use she-male as an identity. Most are in someway in sex-business, but still. Many people who identify as TS share Your thoughts, Lady Ellen. But not everyone. And some who have a diagnose on being TS do identify as she-males. And that is their right to do so.

i can understand that it is frustrating to deal with misconseptions all the time, i do too. But i am very much against excluding people from our community (in this case communities of gender-minorities) because of how they identify. Even when it hurts O/our personal political/ideological agendas. The same thing happened with BDSM-groups in LGBTi communities some time ago. BDSM-groups were excluded because they were thought to make a negative impact on the public image. There were reasons behind that, understandable reasons, but it was still a terrible, political thing to do.

Now i'm ranting again.:D

The one is confused is YOU.  What you don't get is that you don't speak for all TS- Transexuals.  You are imposing your experience and belief system on anyone who has a gender issue.  Just because someone knows that they are female. they know the gender they should be, doesn't mean that they are automatically repulsed by other gender characteristics they have, including genetalia. Just because you hate(d) your male anatomy, doesn't mean that everyone who is exploring gender issues does as well.

This is currently under debate in the APA- which does currently stress that a gender "disorder" should be characterized by a disassociation of the original genetalia.  It has been the practice not to allow gender reassignment surgery to anyone who didn't revile their current genetailia.  But that is changing. Change is good. These are the same people who debated whether homosexuality was sociopathic in the last ten years.  (1999... sigh).

Gender is not about pink and blue all the time.  85% of the time, yes, someone is either a boy or a girl and they know it, and they have the anatomy, the hormonal endocrinology, and the sociological upbring to match what they know.  But there are a great many humans who have different feelings, different experiences, different anatomy, different chemistry and a different worldview.  You know this better than anyone. Why make it harder?  If you try and lock everyone into your mold where identification with one gender means to revile all within you that identifies you as anything else, you are as bad (or even worse) than those who would insist that everyone live the anatomy they were born with and not the gender they identify with.

--All of which has nothing to do with the fact that the Original Poster just wanted someone who had characteristics of both genders to bend him over and fuck him senseless- and you took all the fun out of his question by being the PC Police over a fucking word.

LadyEllen -> RE: Shemales (5/30/2008 9:01:08 AM)

I'll tell you what I find confusing - that many people manage to get coached enough to get treatment enough to regret it and end up as suicide statistics.

And they do this why? Because being a male crossdresser is so utterly shameful in our society that its best to pretend to a more respectable (barely) clinical diagnosis.

I've encountered plenty of people who are TS, plenty who are CD and plenty who fall into the above camp.

And all the while we have this confusion, all these "ifs and buts" from people who really dont know what they want or who they are - and support in that confusion from well meaning but ignorant outsiders, the greater will grow the tragedy.

TS is not a kink. It is not subject to the same acceptable variability or variable acceptability even, according to taste of the participants as kink is. And the misunderstanding of this is perhaps the greatest source of all this confusion.

Let me get this straight.  If someone is questioning their gender and they get different advice, they are more likely to kill themselves?  It is okay for you to insist that to have a gender issue is to hate a part of yourself, but outsiders who stress that each person has to walk their own path towards acceptance (including acceptance of kink) are leading people to their gun cabinets and cyanide pills?

Um.  NO.

LadyEllen -> RE: Shemales (5/30/2008 9:19:49 AM)

There are two types of suicide

There are the TS people who for whatever reason couldnt get the treatment - usually due to funds, family pressures and so on

There are the non TS people who talk themselves into getting treatment, and then regret it. Of those, all that I have come across are fantasists and those ashamed to be male crossdressers, and one seriously psychologically ill person.

When you talk about advice, I am talking about coaching - two entirely different things. The first is (or should be) properly qualified advice in the best interests of the person. The second is a means by which people are educated to say the right things, be the right way, do the right things to prompt a diagnosis and acquire treatment - too often not in the best interests of the person.

And that has WHAT exactly to do with the fact that not everyone who is born female with a penis, hates said penis and every possible thing to be done with it?

simonross -> RE: Shemales (5/30/2008 10:47:25 PM)

Going back to the OP, it would seem everyone is getting hung up on labels on this thread. From my experience there really are only 3 groups on the TG scene.

1) Trannies - call them what you like TV's, crossdressers, tgirls etc... dress for fun, sex, kicks etc.. alone or with others
2) Shemales - Generally a guy who is not TS but takes on some of the characteristics of a woman (ie.. implants etc..) to make money, or a TS who has stopped transistioning at a point prior to SRS, again to make money in the adult industry
3) Transsexuals - People who are born into the wrong gender and will go to hell and back to correct the mistake.

Now there are all shades of grey within these 3 groups, and on occasion you may get the odd person move from one group to another, but in general that pretty much covers the entire scene.

how can any of you who are not intersexed or transgendered sit here and tell those who are what they should find offensive or not?  we all know the fantasy exists, a media fed myth in many instances.  do we have to sit here and have those born with the correct genitalia for their gender tell those who weren't what's what?  i think i know who the real experts here are, and those who have been blessed with not having that cross to bear should respect them and their attempts to educate and further tolerance and acceptance of everyone.
