That takes too long especially when the media shields most of the US from what is really going on. I'm yet to be at a protest when we can even be on the same street he is travelling on. Of course the pro Bush supporters get to be right there up front and center.

If the media stopped being so biased, I think impeachment could be worth a shot. His approval rating would be much lower than 38% or whatever it is today.

He has filled the supreme court with his friends...we're in for a long ride even after he is long gone.

Reporting on press freedom
20/10/2005 15:24 - (SA)

Paris - Press freedom is being eroded in parts of the Western world, failing to advance in Iraq, but making progress in states emerging from repression, the watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) reported on Thursday.

http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1820204,00.html

It wasn't written yesterday but it makes it's point.

I am not entirely ure what the fuss is all about. An avatars just an avatar - a photograph a photograph. I have mine removed from the other side months ago - no biggie - I can just send it out to people. These images are jut that, images. They don't make a person who they are. I would rather see CM stay then be destroyed. OK - so the law sucks at times - and people have no idea - but change will come... I have every belief in that. Change occurs but takes time. And it comes when we all strive for it - but at our own risk - not CMs and the people that run it. They can choose to take the rap for us all, but I wouldn't want them to do that for me. We can make the stand on our own, individually - because that will make us more powerful, united together, and not just nameless faces on a single site.

Yea godz I sound preachy - ah well...

Peace and Love

The fuss is not about CM, avatars or even pictures, the fuss is about the fact that our freedoms are being eroded and not for any noble purpose but to allow the governments to gain better control over the populace. And if you can live with that, if any of us can, then they have won. The Forth Reich might just last a thousand years this time. All those platatudes of the 'Home of the Free' or we just being a free country will be a thing of the past. I am talking about UK here as well as the USA, as Blair is trying to pass similar laws here. Think I am over reacting well look in the other direction while they do this and all you'll hear is me saying I told you so.

As for keeping CM alive, why not change the server to a differant country. one that thinks adults should be able to make up thier own minds on what they want to see or read?

Hi Kev -

Yes, Like m'Lady A informed, it doesn't matter if the server is elsewhere, they can get you just by ones own state laws... loophole hey...

As for what You said before - I completely understand - yes I do know its about freedom of speach and expression - which is why being disgruntled about a few images on a website doesn't help - contributing to local causes to assist fighting this thing does. I was not trying to belittle anyones thoughts, but there has been so many posts started on this subject and they rarely get anywhere. A few little pictures on a website we don't pay for is only the bottom of the pile. What about people like John who can be effected? Artisits like myself, whos' images - both painted and photograph, may end up illegal because we don't have the relivant info on the people who posed? Emins bed, Monet, Dali... films, books.... You can be damned sure that once hollywood is hit by this that people outside wiitwd will start taking notice... maybe we should be campagning to bring something that major into the fold now, so people will have to take note.

Peace and Love

He'd be out of office before it even got off the ground. I'd like to see our next president/administration with the fiscal mindset of Pat Buchanan or Richard Mellon Scaife, and the social mindset of Larry Flynt.

It seems like we are stuck with one extreme or another, and never a happy medium.

Faramir -> RE: Sighhhhhhhhh (10/21/2005 11:49:20 AM)

As far as I understand, there is no crackdown, but rather pre-emptive action on the part of CM's administration - a judgement call in anticipation. Am I mistaken?

Lordandmaster -> RE: Sighhhhhhhhh (10/21/2005 11:50:34 AM)

Yes, you're mistaken. Sites have been shut down already.

All I know is my avatar was a picture of raft floating down a river, and it was pulled. It wasn't even remotely tied to BDSM, so something must be up...

On another note... I know there is a bill before congress right now that is being sponsored by both the anti-defamation league and the homosexual lobby, that specifically deals with hate-speech.

While I don't like 2257, a hate-speech bill laden with language that would attempt to curtail our freedoms regards the first amendment, has me more worried.

I will look for specifics on the bill and post it.

But Ranger, what were you holding in that picture?

Could it have been........................................A PADDLE?

(seriously though, I don't get it either. Mine was a pic of me sitting in a chair, fully clothed. BFD.)

I can't believe so few people signed to have him impeached : http://www.impeachbush.org/ .
It's not very useful to sign, but I'm still surprised... Of course, he hasn't done anything impeachable. The worst he did was turning the US Army into a group of mercenaries working for Halliburton (which is just what free market economy is for), so as long as he doesn't get any blow job, I guess he's safe.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Sighhhhhhhhh (10/22/2005 6:40:57 AM)

Actually, it's been established that a majority of Americans now favor impeaching him if he lied about Iraq. (Yeah, right--"if.")

IF ? Er, I mean, just the fake document "proving" that Iraq was importing uranium from Nigeria with help of France ? This one was so poorly made up that the name of the nigerian minister (US : secretary) who "signed" the document was the name of the minister who was in charge 2 years (if I remember well, maybe 5 years) before the date of the document. I mean, the story of the daughter of the embasador of Kuwait in USA who pretended that she worked in a hospital in Kuwait where the soldiers of Saddam killed all the babies was already quite a lie (she said that to be nice with daddy Bush), but that fake report... any fucking idiot could have checked the names of the ministers of Nigeria. My advice to the CIA : google is your friend.

Better watch out frenchpet, the CIA might be reading collarme.com at this very moment and if they read your post, they may go into their cellars and pour out all the French wine they've already paid for down the sewer!! ;-)

Then I would retaliate : I'd go to the kitchen, eat a dozen PB&J sandwiches (american crunchy PB) and drink a lot of coke, and after a while I'll send the peanut butter and the coke down the sewer... Mwahahaha ! what an evil plan !

Not only was my completely innocent Av taken off, but I don't see anyway to upload another pic on my profile. All I can do is pick from the avatar collection on here. Is that what others are finding also? I don't really care because I like this one too but I do find it bizzare. I'm on other sex boards and can still use all my very racy avs. I assume it's all a matter of time for those too. Sheesh! [:@]

bronxboy -> RE: Sighhhhhhhhh (10/22/2005 7:57:25 PM)

I had a friend have to take down her site because of all the new laws that were enacted.
You have to post your business address and hours of operation so someone can come by and peek at your files. There ought to be a law against that....wait there is a law against search and seizures, somone must have forgotten it.

There was "a law." It's called the Fourth Amendment and reads: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Unfortunately activist judges have pretty much emasculated it.

OOH, I'm sorry. They are only "activist judges" when they do something the far right doesn't like. I suppose it's more "right thinking jurists have interpreted the Constitution in light of today's more complex world."

[gagging and spitting]

frenchpet -> RE: Sighhhhhhhhh (10/23/2005 4:42:24 AM)

It could be much worse
