I cringe at the hateful things this will trigger.    Yet- why deny someone happiness?  No one would want me, so in a way it isnt relevant.

PA doesnt have a state amendment yet. We just had a committee in state government debating it for state ballot.  Ballot initiatives are rare in PA.

i dont know why some view this as a threat.   society benefits when people settle down.

Im happy for them.  Maybe it will stick.  A fed amendment is unlikely.

lol, and you can bet the evangelists would tie that right in there wouldn't they?  wrath of god and all that crap.  this should have been the way it was all along.  when people are committed to each other in what they believe will be a lifelong relationship, they should be allowed to have that recognized by all of society.  nobody marries planning to divorce; if you want the freedom to leave, shack up.  let the rest of us, no matter what our preferences, have the committment we want.

DomKen -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 12:13:03 PM)

I await the gay couple brave enough to get married in California and then go to some state with an ammendment banning such and sueing to overturn the ammendment based on "full faith and credit."

pahunkboy -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 12:15:23 PM)

The oposimg side looks bitter.  look at that guy- the snear on his face is like someone slammed HIM into a bed and ripped off his clothes

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 12:29:42 PM)

sub4hire -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 1:15:08 PM)

I think its about time people get equal rights.  One less step we have to take now for everyone else.

Now hopefully the other states will follow suit.  Only time will tell.

Not in my lifetime.  Bush is mean spririted  by voiding any contract as such.

Lucylastic -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 2:23:04 PM)

This is excellent news,
I love the quote from the justices  "responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation."

kinkbound -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 2:24:13 PM)

I see no reason why some people should be allowed to marry, while others aren't.

Nevertheless, I wonder how many people marry as a proclamation of love and commitment, as opposed to tax advantages, health insurance advantages, or other perceived advantages.

Nothing wrong with that either... sometimes they get married for a myriad of reasons, it's all in the realm of the personal, thank goodness.

Lucylastic -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 2:57:17 PM)

People no matter straight gay or bi will get married for their own reasons, people will cast aspersions about their reasons for getting married, as they always have with straight couples. Hopefully that is something they can get thru together. But it really has nothing to do with anyone!!!

kittinSol -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 2:58:54 PM)

Imagine the chaos if one had to prove they're getting married for 'pure and altruistic' reasons only [8D] .

Lucylastic -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 3:27:28 PM)

Pure? whats that? non comprendez, (its about the limit of my foreign language ability)

popeye1250 -> RE: Let Freedom Ring! (5/15/2008 3:33:04 PM)

Why so late?
They're behind a few other states.
Now, if they can get their act together about enforcing people's 2nd amendment rights in that state maybe...
