Hello All!

I am designing my own restraint system.....I looked at the Under the Bed Restraint system and after reading all the reviews and seriously considering the price and getting all googly eyed at all the pretty silver thingys at the hardware store......I wanted to take a crack at making one myself.....With the help of a friend I am making leather cuffs with D-rings attached to attach to the system

So my question.....which do you think is better for creating the actual system......?

Nylon seems to be what most commerical systems use
Someone once told me that the chains would weigh down the arms and make them tired too easily.
And rope, is rope.........

Any help or input is appreciated!  Thank You!

I'm a Chain Girl.  But then, my subs tend to be rather strapping men, so fatigue is not a problem.  Chains never wear out.  There is something sensual in the cold unyielding feel of the metal coupled with the fluidity of the motion... And NOTHING rivals the sound of them clinking.  Clips are quick and easy to work without breaking my fingernails as eventually, even the most steadfast sub must be released.  I hate untying knots and it seems so wasteful to cut the ropes.  Yes... Gimme chains, lots of chains.

To me it depends on the bed. I have a water bed with nice solid wood frames. And chains rubbing against the wood would be a pain to keep smooth and splinter free. On my water bed i put boat cleats to wrap the rope around in figure 8s. So knots arent an issue.

But i do have to aggree that Ms Starlett is right on "nothing beats the clanking of chains" , and in my play room there isn't any rope, but lots of chains in various lengths,... grin

I worry about my wood furniture as well.  I have a 100 yr old antique set and it is beautiful....hate to chip it with rough play....I like the idea of the chains as well, but a potential play mate does not........ almoss thought of going nylon and chain.....

i have a leash for my dog that is 3/4 chain and 1/4 nylon....I almost thought that I could cut the nylon and re-attach it to steal rings that are attached to more chain.......ok so maybe i like chains too...never used them.....but they are turning me on....

Okay back to the drawing board.......and i hope others post!

Chains!

Although they might damage the bed frame if you have actual lengths of chain running under the mattress.

A tough nylon isn't going to break any time soon, so anything with the mattress on top of it would probly work better with nylon.

But on top of the mattress, chains!

Chains. easy great "bondage factor" visually .Safe easy to attach and remove.

I have used both nylon and rope separately to make a web for under the bed. I like chains but they tend to scratch wall paint and bed frames and all sorts of other things. The added benefit to the nylon with D rings is that you can always attach chains to the D rings and the nylon or rope will just tuck back under the mattress without any issues or lumpiness.

There are many worthwhile internet sites and published books that deal with rope and rope restraints. Can someone recommend link or book that is a good refernece for chain applications in bondage.....?

Blast makes a good point, keeping chains under your bed all the time might get annoying, but if you want to clip chains in that would be perfect.  I also recomend splurging and buying stainless steel chains if you are going to have them in bed with you.  No one wants that nasty oil all over galvanized chain on thier sheets.

Here is another idea:  leather

i make several styles of restraint straps in leather that can be used by themselves or combined:

TRUE!  But you can get out quick and cheap with dog leashes.  Tie a spacer (leather, rope, whatever) to two handles going straight across or four in an X shape.... place between the mattress and foundation then wrap the clip ends up to the top.  Ta Da.  I still use leather cuffs.

Although keeping in mind, yes leather is a possibility but it is money I'd rather spend elsewhere. Using the nylon, rope, or chains is much cheaper than using leather but if money is no object, then leather is a beautiful option.

I don't buy chain that isn't stainless. The little bit more you'll spend is so worth it, as it won't rust either.

I personally think Nylon seems like a good choice. Although it would probably depend as stated before on the type of bed and the layout of the room.

I did something like what you described...using various stuff.....dog leashes......stainless O rings and some nylon from a piece of luggage.

I will look at cuffs and stuff later but this works for now :)
