LadyHibiscus -> RE: Best wood for a paddle? (5/16/2008 7:41:53 PM)

I have/had a bigass collection of wooden toys, thanks to those nice folks at Toys in the Closet.... My favorite is TEAK, lightweight, but strong, seconded by cherry. Top line just as a fetish object is ebony, I have all sorts of things made from it. It;s superdense, just amazing stuff. But, I cleaned out the wood collection, since I don't have a lot of use for it. It was getting kind of crazy for awhile there, just getting stuff on the "ooh shiny!" qualities of the grain! Oh, I have the CUTEST little heart shaped paddle from the Toy Bag, someone gave it to me for a gift.... dark red wood, something Brazilian. Anyway, TEAK. Plus, they make boat decks from it, so that attests to its durability!
